Sawzall Blade Storage - Any Ideas?

My ideal Sawzall blade storage container would be a 13" long version of this Dewalt case.

Any ideas? How do you store your Sawzall blades so you can take them with you?

I carry 2 to 7 of the following:

12" Woodcutting All Purpose
9" Woodcutting All Purpose
6" Woodcutting All Purpose

8" 10 TPI
6" 10 TPI

8" 18 TPI
6" 18 TPI

Plus a small assortment of assorted blades.

My sawzall came with a bag that has stitched pockets on the inside... i just put them all in there? :)

Done several ways. I've used a 19" toolbox where I leave the saw in the bottom, and place the blades in the top tray. This way it doesn't look like a saw case.
Spot in my Milwaukee sawzall case (have three reciprocating saws).
Piece of pipe tube, with caps, to look kinda like a welding rod case.

25 pk of Bosch blades come in a rectangular plastic "can" that one end slides over the other I have a few floating around, keep drill bits in one, but I don't use enough recip saw blades to worry about having to keep track of them.

When I bought my Sawzall, it didn't come with any kind of a blade kit. There was a Milwaukee rollup blade kit and a Bosch rollup blade kit available on the shelf at the same time. The Bosch kit was a better deal, but I bought the Milwaukee kit because the colors matched my Sawzall & storage box. There's probably a name for this disorder.

As do I. My Saw Z All is a 110V Saw Z All. The guys have to make do with a cordless De Walt.

But Colonial Tools had a special on a Milwaukie plastic box with some blades in it. I got 2 of them, and then put more blades in. We use wood and metal blades. I am partial to the 18 tpi for sheet metal and pipe cutting.

I just bought a pack of Morse blades for Dad's saw, and it came with with a clear plasstic storage tube with a screw on cap.

I've seen similar clear plastic storage tubes at Menard's for about $2.

I am getting there! I have all the 6" blades taken care of. It's a fresh set of blades and I took my old ones to work to use up so that's why they are all shiny and new.

Now if I could only find something this awesome for the 8", 9", and 12" blades.

After all these years of using them professionally I am sick of the jumble and going super organized. It's a sickness. I know.

How about an old cigar box? You can partition off a section with posterboard if you need multiple compartments.

...or you could make a box out of wood or steel.


I picked up a couple of blades a while back in a long metal conainer. It's about 10-12 inches long and is just big enough to hold about six blades. I would guess I got it at HD.

dunno about your walmart, but at ours in the fishing section they have a row of all kinds of Plano boxes of all sizes and organizational styles. I grabbed one that fits various sawzall blades nicely. They stack nice and are a simple and clean uniform way to hold stuff. very inexpensive too.

My old one with a metal case has a wrench roll type think to put them in. If I was the op I would probably just use a canvas tool roll.

The non-OCD among us might. Then there's people like me. All sorted, in cases, and labeled. I'll try to remember to post a picture.

And I might add, I use Sawzall blades. I have worn out hundreds and hundreds over the years. But I like them ultra organized at this stage of my life. So they are.

:lol_hitti:lol_hitti Oh believe me, I have plenty of weird disorders in my life. I just don't think much about my saws all blades. Maybe because I only use them a few times and throw them out. I hate having to "work" with dull blades. What would you call that niche? ADDTUDB? ADD To Use Dull Blades:lol_hitti

When I worked construction I threw all my blades in Klein cloth zipper bags. One for Metal, one for wood.

Have a Milwaukee organizer that a set of blades came in. Thinking about getting a short piece of PVC pipe, gluing a cap on one end and friction fitting a cap on the other for longer blades that don't fit the Milwaukee organizer.

I keep my blades loose in the blow molded case with the sawzall, and I desperately need something as it drives me nuts those blades go everywhere in the case any time I carry it anywhere.

I could be wrong but I thought the Milwaukee and Dewalt accessory cases only go up to 9".

Here is what I use for jig saw blades. A 2" diameter face mill plastic tube. I got LUCKY, it is an almost *exact* fit for my Rockwell 348's case!!!

I've been looking for a longer, thinner tube that can hold up to 12" sawzall blades, no luck yet. They throw away tubes like this every day at work.
