Here is the original thread for this idea: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154512

Here's the deal:

1. On July 4th, buy some tools from Harry J. Epstein. Buy a little or buy a lot, but buy something. I thought we could all buy within the same 12-hour window of time, but that might not matter. As long as you place your order on the 4th, you'll be just fine.

2. When you place your order, there will be a box in which you can write comments. At the very least, let them know you are from GJ. If you want to go beyond that and thank them for what they do, that's up to you.

3. Once your tools arrive, share pics of them with us here, in this thread. Don't start another thread about your Epstein's order, let's all just share them here.

That's it. Why are we doing this? Because some of us had the idea that Harry J. Epstein's is a great place. It's an old-fashioned, family-owned business that has a commitment to offering quality USA-made tools at good prices. And, they have excellent customer service; just look on their website for examples of the custom artwork they offer on your tool packages, FOR FREE. It's insane to get that level of care and attention from a company in 2012. Anyway, we want to support them, and Tool God Fedwrench suggested that combining our July 4th celebration of America with supporting a good old American company by buying their American tools would be just swell.

I'm going to lock this thread until after the 4th, so people can then post their tool hauls in here. Until then, if you want to talk about this (and we'd love for you to join us) then please use the thread linked at the top of this post.

Thanks for your time.

Oh, and here is a link to Epstein's website:

http://www.harryepstein.com/

There is a closeout section and a regular catalog section. To see all the items available, you really need to use the alphabetic tabbed menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Re: July 4th Is "Buy From Epstein's Day"!

This is the thread in which to share pics and info about your Epstein's Day purchase. If you made your purchase early because you had ants in your pants, then you are included as well.

The waiting is going to be the worst!!! I assume they got something over 125 orders to fill... oh well, it's worth the wait to support Epsteins.

I usually buy Endere's punches but the Wilde were less expensive, so I figured I'd try them. The stubby drill's are Norseman and are great for drilling out stuff in cramped place's, like exhaust bolt's.
I was going to get some hammer handles, but could not remember what I needed.

I ordered a couple Armstrong Flex Head Ratchets! I was kind of surprised when the sales guy gave me numbers for a typical online sales/phone in order day. Not nearly the volume I would expect, but 150+ on the 4th must have been a nice surprise.

Oh, my. How heavy and what brand is the brass hammer? That Armstrong ratchet looks long! And, that prybar looks beefy. How does it feel?

Armstrong changed the handle shape a little when they went to the 60 tooth model's. They added a bit of a hump in the middle. My 36 tooth's great, no clue on the 60's.

This is my first order that was placed in the spirit of Epsteins day but placed early due to the fact that I didn't think I'd be around a computer on the 4th to place an order. I did make another order on July 4 and I'd expect that will be arriving in a week or 2. Anyways, for this order I picked up some mini channel lock stuff (4 1/2" ignition pliers, 4 1/4 diag cutters, 4 3/4 end cutters, 4 3/4" needle nose, 5" diag cutters, 4 1/2 needle nose)' 4" crescent and 6" ridgid adjustables and Eastwing Engineers hammer. This was my first order ever from Epsteins and definitely will be doing a lot more shopping there in the future!

I was pleasantly suprised to find my order waiting on my porch when I got home today. I purchased 1/4, 3/8 (x2), and 1/2" Wright ratchets. Thank you Jori (and crew), they also sent a nice Wright T-Shirt and a pair of unmarked slip joint pliers.

Thank you Bull for organizing. I look forward to doing more business with Epstein's!

Nice haul JEEPLESS. Really excited about the Wright ratchets I ordered. If they feel and perform as good as they look there will be more.

Sorry I wasn't able to participate.
Had one hell of a storm blow thru here on 7/1. We lost power for 12 hours (thank goodness I had a generator, and a welding connection in the garage to back feed), and we just had comcast re enabled today.
I will order something(s) later tonight.

my first order, got a little antsy and couldn't wait for the 4th. I got a ripping bar, claw hammer, Wright 3/8" ratchet, SK brake tool, and a Mopar 3/8" combo wrench. They threw in a free slip joint pliers.

My actual order from the 4th should be in tomorrow or the day after

Here is my haul, including the box art I requested!
IMG_1801.jpg

Vaco flathead, Lutz 2-in-1 (for my collection), Channellock mini needle nose and mini diagonal cutters, and the nice pair of slip joint pliers they threw in!

I cut the drawing out of the box and hung it on the wall next to the 'Two hammers fighting to the death' Jori Sackin original piece!

Nice haul from Epsteins. I go there about 4 times a year. They have a fair amount in the store that is not listed on the internet. I always come home with a haul. The store is very cool and is like walking back to 1930's. There are 4 floors of tools!!

Isn't UPS union?

drivers & dockworkers are definitely teamsters. 95% sure the pilots are in one of the pilot unions.

i think something like 1/2 of UPSs employees are unionized.

i think the only fedex unionized workers are the pilots but could be wrong.

Just got home and found this waiting for me. The last few 6pt std and metric shallow sockets I need to fill out my set. And a free pair of pliers and shirt too. I'm happy because I completely forgot to ask about the t-shirt in my order. And a few bucks back on shipping to boot!
