HF US General 44" tool box on sale in March

A bit early, but it should be worth waiting for.

Nice I don't think I have ever seen it go down that low without a coupon. Maybe I'll snag me one.

Re: HF tool box / US General 44" roller on sale March 8th

Thanks for the head's up to help other GJ's for nice affordable tool box.

I'm considering US General 44" tool box as I just hate Craftsman set I've got, which are more like tin can boxes. They were gifts from in-laws so it wouldn't bother me much to change them out.

OP please edit main post Title to include details that US General 44" tool box is the one on sale for $349 which is terrific deal. More details in Title are better.

Also would be good to have the link to GJ thread that analyzed all boxes and proved that US General 44" from HF is actually very good box. Throw in the thread where Steevo built 3 in a row with square tubing in awesome bench, AND newbies would have good info to consider the US General 44" rather than spending more money on CM, Husky, etc.

while you are at it, throw in the thread showing how actually the quality is better than snapon. I think there might be one that shows it's better than lista too

hell while we are at it, let's keep cluttering up the hot deal threads with every "regular" priced harbor freight sale coupon :lol_hitti

This box is solid as a rock. I guess some people can justify spending 10x as much on a Snap-On box but I'm not one of them.

I think $349 is about the best price you can get on it these days.

I bought mine back when you could still use the 20% off coupons on them. I only paid $279+tax.:shocking:

I don't know why this thread had to instantly turn into a stupid HF/SO debate. It's obviously not as nice as a more expensive Snap-on box, but it's still a very good box for the money. I've had the HF box for about three years.

Anyway, thanks to the OP for posting this. If anyone has been waiting for a sale to pick one up, this would probably be a good time to do it.

What cracks me up is why the HF haters even waste the time to read and post on an HF thread. Though I may agree with some of the comments if I felt that negative about something I wouldn't waste my time, unless of course lives were in danger!
Regular guys with smaller wallets deserve a tool box too, don't they?

When you spend that much on tools you have to be vigilant about people thinking they could have the audacity to buy something cheaper and make it work.

Bought 3 crinkly versions for that price about 12 months ago when they were going out, great boxes. Want to say the "regular" sale price on them is $399.

$349 is a good deal on this box. I had one, but soon ran out of sapce- almost bought one or two more, but elected to go to a Snap on for the added depth. That said, it is good quality, but not Snap quality.... and I am NOT much of a snap on guy due to the price.

The bottom line, this is a great price on a very good box!

Unless I'm missing something . . . my post didn't say a word about Snappy.

Anyone is entitled to read what they want . . . . this single post IS A HOTDEAL . . . as virtually anything out there tool box wise can't touch the quality of US General 44" roller for $349 . . . I was just suggesting a more accurate Title. Then within this single thread additional useful could all be in one place if someone was considering purchase of US General 44" roller tool chest.

Here's the USEFUL INFORMATION that I thought GJer's might need:

1) Tool Chest Review by Mister Moose - -- nice tool box comparison
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153445&highlight=tool+box+review

2) Awesome build by Steevo using four US General 44" toolboxes built into square steel tubing into giant workbench (only found Phase 2 and Phase 3)

It's NOT a hot deal and it's not even a deal when it's regularly on "so called sale" at 359-369 just like the other 3 or 4 other recent hf posts

This is a "hot deal" section

@ 349 it's NOT EVEN 5% off of 359-369 their almost daily "sale" price, in fact every other month you can get the 349 price in car & driver

To top it off, this is a "hot deal" thread, not a thread to start tacking on discussion threads about the merits of the tools, that would fall in the general tool thread

so hey.... if everyone wants to post every silly coupon that HF pushes out daily/weekly etc and call it a hot deal... well, i think you can figure it out

I'm getting mine sent to the border then going down to get them. Even with the shipping and duty there's nothing here even close in quality for the price.

How do you ship to an address that's not on your credit card? That's my problem.

while you are at it, throw in the thread showing how actually the quality is better than snapon.

I've searched and searched and just can't seem to find any "Hot Deals" on Snappy shown here in GJ, or entire web for comparable $349 heavy duty 44" roller tool box.

Did find one thread where other SnapOn owners were asking about regional or web "sales" by SnapOn itself . . . to no avail. Funny you "forgot" to provide any assistance in that thread . . . . . .

Thanks again OP for the head's up on upcoming deal.

Well, I am looking at buying 7 of them, so 10 to 20 off per unit is a "hot deal" to me. I didn't realize the hot deal section was only for deals that meet YOUR criteria.

Way to beat the hell out of a junior member who's trying to participate. Everything you said above is accurate, AND could still have been shared in a positive tone. Everyone on this board has a learning curve. . .that's why we're here.

I found this thread helpful as I would not have known it was going to be 349. Thanks OP, I'm going to buy one during this sale.

You can ship anywhere you want. Only your billing address has to match your credit card address.

Look for cross border shipping/receiving companies.

I use Montana Shipping Outlet. I ship to their address. They recieve the package on my behalf for small fee then I have 30 days to run down and get it.

There are tons of companies just like this all along the border. Just make sure they will recieve large freight.

Something like the tool box costs about $20 for them to recieve it then you have to pay GST and dutie when you bring it across.

Umm, what kind of Subaru?

Youb probably will have to strip the shipping material in the parking lot.

The basic dimensions are on the HF site. Then take a look at Steevos workbench thread (link in an earlier post in this thread) I'm pretty sure there are pics of his boxes all wrapped up in shipping clothes. Even unwrapped they would be tight in any Subaru.

Maybe find a freind with a truck. Buy him lunch and beer . . .

Your obviously biased opinion doesn't add ANY value to this thread and your posts are beginning to perfectly match your signature description of HF. I own HF boxes and like them just fine. The OP is not the problem here, at least not from where I stand....

349 is a good price , I should of purchased one boxes when that was regular price And they would accept coupons on top of that

Best I've seen in the past couple of months is 369 , and when they offer the 25% off coupon they jack it up to 399

Thanks for posting !
