I maybe clueless but I believe these are a new set of torx drivers from Craftsman; I thought they were a little high priced but just wait for a 50% off or Craftsman club sale! Craftsman 7 pc. Torx Screwdrivers with T-handle grips. Includes the following sizes: T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30 and T40. They are the new "professional" black and red style grips and have the driver on the end and on the handle.

I just bought a T-30 Craftsman (normal shaped) screwdriver to keep in my van as that is what is needed in order to move the roof rack on the 02' Honda Odessey's. Anyway, I paid $4 for it. What's interesting to me though is that I've yet to see torx bolts on anything else. Not sure if torx is a new concept that never really took off or not. On my van, I haven't seen any other torx bolts. I'd like to get a set like this one above but what kind of cars use torx?

AFAIK it is a new TORX type and is a different shape altogether! TORX PLUS! TRIPLE SQUARE has 4x3=12 points! TORX PLUS has 6 points only!

Here is an example of a external or male version of the fastener.

Same type with security "feature" (these are internal or female version of the fastener; I guess they are putting these on emissions and stuff on cars in a attempt to reduce tampering.

Here is a interesting article about the development of TORX PLUS and the security head; the why, where and how of the creation of the new style:

My 90 Dakota and 05 Grand Caravan use torx for the tail lights.

Thermostats where I work are bolted shut with torx also.

I bought a 100 piece set of bits that has all the oddball torx + etc in it from a Cummins sale for $5. So far, they've worked fine but none were put under great stress.

Correct. Triple square and torx plus are not the same thing at all. Good new is taht traditional torx drivers will still work on torx plus fasteners....

Chrysler products use some torx fasteners, and thats about all you'll find on newer Volkswagons. I even found some today removing an inner door pull on a '77 Trans Am! I see a lot of the torx plus on airbags and their sensors. Looks like a nice set if you wait for the sale.

Too many fasteners that don't interchange dangit. TP torx, torx (which do) tp torx plus and torx plus (that don't). Then all of the external style versions and ribe bits and triple square. What's the deal?

billymade - Yeah, that's one of my Porsche 914's. I've got two 75's, both of them with the 4 cyl engines. My orange one is a 2.0 and the black one is a 1.8. A 6 cyl swap is something I'll definitely do down the road when I find a decent 3.0 or 3.2 six cyl motor that's not worth more than my whole car. Anyway, it's nice to find people that still know these cars. Most people think it's a Fiat. Here's a pic.

I was into the air-cooled scene pretty heavily; as a matter of fact I drove a air-cooled beetle/super-beetle as my daily driver from 1987-2000! Needless to say I replaced allot of engines and swapped just about every part on those bugs with either new or rebuilt parts! Those cars required allot of maintenance and needed constant attention. I now drive a 02 New Beetle Turbo S with 1.8T 180HP and 6 speed ******; fun car and low maintenance! I don't miss: weak clutches constantly failing, drum brakes that always had to be adjusted (self adjusters never worked), swapping/adjusting points, dist caps/rotors, spark plug wires, adjusting valves constantly and finicky carburetors! I always viewed the 914 as the apex of the air cooled scene (aside from the 911); as it was joint venture between VW/Porsche. Growing up in California; I would occasionally see a "914-6" badged Porsche from time to time. In the 1970-80s California seemed to be the place for the Porsche automobiles; they were everywhere and probably still are. I've been to Germany 2X and I always figured Porsche cars would be every where; WRONG! The first time I was there for a month and I could count probably on one hand how many I saw on the road and the autobahn! I've seen more Porsche 911s in California, then I ever saw in Germany! Your 914s look nice; I always dreamed of having one and the 914-6 seemed like the one to own! How much work have you done to yours and are they pretty reliable?

I grew up in CA (Santa Barbara and later in San Jose) and my cousin actually taught me how to drive stick in his 914. Hence, I've ALWAYS wanted one.

I've had the Orange one for about 20 years now. I've done everything you can possibly imagine to it. Rebuilt engine and ******, although 1st is grinding a bit now. You'll notice that I did a 5-lug swap so I could run 911 Fuchs. Every single part has been rebuilt at some point along the way. I even back dated the exhaust on both cars to a 74' so that I could run stainless steel heat exchangers and Bursh exhausts (love the sound and the added heat).

I've only had the black one for about 3 years now (found locally through ebay). Told the wife I'd turn it around and sell it but now I'm too attached to it.

Both are extremely reliable and have their own distinct driving feel. They're also always ready to go with Optima red tops always plugged in to CTEK chargers. My Orange one rides on Bilsteins, with sticky Yok's, all leather interior, and plush Lloyd mats, with a 400 watt Alpine/Rockford set up (and still requires that I change the points every 3K miles). My black one has a rebuilt engine/******, sticky Yok's, rides on Koni's, has front/rear bars, heavy duty springs, electronic ignition, but has the original push button radio that came from the factory. I'm seriously considering doing a 5 lug swap on it too.

I'm rolling on 15X6's front and back. You can also run 16's and go 7" wide if you roll the rear fender lips. Sixes might be a bit skinny but with sticky Yok's it's not even an issue.

They were selling those t-handles @ X-mas in the $20 range.

Not sure what I was thinking, but it sure wasn't Torx. I bought the HEX sets on sale @ Christmas, not the Torx. I can see the benefit of the T handle. I picked up all 3 sets of the Gearwrench folding hex, metric and sae, and the torx. They are decent too.
