Been lurking here on my off time from work, and working on the shop and figured it was time to post a build thread. It all started back in May with some dirtwork -

I guess a little back story would have helped - Currently live in town, but got a good deal on these 3 acres from relatives. I always have a car or two to work on (for fun) and the one car garage we have now isnt cutting it.

The plan is to build the shop, get the well and septic done, 3 bedroom 1 bath apartment. Live in the apartment for a few years (me, wife, 2 kids), sell or rent our current house in town, save and decide on a house to build Then move into the house.

Then the shop apartment 2nd floor gets converted into gameroom/theater. Down stairs stays as a guest/dog house. I need to get some more pics this weeked, all the upstairs is framed, and started on electrical. The drywall and insulation has come in and I need to finish the plumbing before I can get it started.

Here is the current one car, should be a nice change to have a little more space. This garage served me well over the last few years, its restored 2 jeeps, and old bronco, and too many ford 302's to list. I think the new shop area will have to get an old ford dealership scheme.

Picked up a fan to vent, and provide a little breeze when its 100+ out as it has been the last few weeks. It should move a little air, and will look a lot better with a new coat of black paint -

Yeah, Im thinking about hardwood flooring in the apartment so hopefully that will take up a little of the difference. Here is a quick render I did today in sketchup to get the final idea for finish on the outside of the apartment.

I might go with a ford theme once I get to that point. I have a 65 coupe, 95 gt, 03 f150, and sometimes get to play with my soon to be wifes grandpas 9n tractor. No pics of the 65 that are current, its in pieces right now until the shop is complete

Looking great!

My wife and I are thinking of doing the same thing. Once we build our house, I am okay with having a heated/cooled game room/man cave in my shop.

My thoughts exactly! Ill probably have to open the 2nd floor back up for pool table space. More pics tonight as the drywall completes.

Done with the drywall, moved on to the bathroom, laid some slate and threw some grout but forgot pics of that one. Trying to get the bathroom usable asap, then on to painting the rest of the 1st floor.

Terrific work so far, I can't wait to see the finished product. I always wanted to have just a massive garage that has a small living quarters built in, then I'd be a happy man. Now that I'm married I doubt I could ever get my wife to go for that idea. She already hates how much time I spend in the garage!

It's good to see a fellow SN95 mustang owner on here, my money pit is a rio red 95 cobra

Coming along nicely, like the tiles.

I am very confused by the way your (USA) toilets sits, ours flush out the back, not the bottom.

Progress has been slow, Trying to get it all done and liveable by 2/15. We are now planning on having the reception after the wedding in the shop too, so have to get a lot done in the next 6 weeks. Finished the concrete stain in the apartment area (crappy cell pic below), now just need to install doors, trim it all and get the cabinets and kitchen area assembled. Then I get to start on the shop area.
