I am looking to get a 10,000 pound lift for my shop. I can't decide between these two models. Can you help decide? Or is there something better? I would like to stay in the $3000 range.

XPR-10A Bendpac

Or

E10 Challenger

TIA,
Scott

Both great. Had some experience with the Bendpak so that's what I got. No wrong answer there.

I bought a Challenger because it was made in Kentucky in the good ole USA. But now I believe they are made in China like a lot of lifts. I don't think you can go wrong with either the Bendpak or Challenger.

I bought an E10 Challenger about a year and a half ago. I think I paid just a little over $3200 for it then. So far I have been happy with it and have lifted 3/4 ton Chevy diesels a few times and it felt safe. I bought mine because it fit under my low ceiling.

The E10 isn't all US made like the more expensive Challengers. :(

How about a Rotary? SPOA10?

I just had one installed on Saturday. I picked it because it had the lowest pad height and the tilted columns allow the doors to open further. Challenger was my second choice, also a very good lift.

What did it run installed, if I might ask? What is the pad height? That is a concern for me as my Mustang sits VERY low - I'm not sure anything is going to help me other than a floor jack or pulling up on some boards to get arms under it.

i've got an xpr-10a (168" tall) and love it. the pads are very low - it gets under my miata (barely) and that is lower than any street car. if you can go over a speed bump without high centering, you are not likely to have a problem.

i'm very happy with my bendpak. it regularly sees the 8500lb (empty) 1 ton diesel dually, and lifts it effortlessly. doesn't sound any different lifting or resting it on the locks than it does lifting the 2000lb miata.

i was really looking at the rotary, but seeing them in person, installed side-by-side with a bendpak, the bendpak certainly SEEMS more heavily built. every part seemed to be made of heavier steel. its not like you hear about lifts falling down, and when you do, its almost always either neglected, used totally outside of its rated limits, or some other example of evolution at work. i highly doubt a PROPERLY INSTALLED lift of any of the mentioned brands (rotary, bendpak or challenger) is likely to be differentiated by safety.

that said, the extra height of the bendpak (an option), along with the heavier construction, and good service i've heard about from others, and a lower price, sent me their way. i'd guess i would have been happy with either of the other brands as well - having a lift at home is a mind bending convenience when you're used to working outside in the weather, on jackstands and cardboard!

I was leaning towards the Bendpak XPR-10A as well. My Mustang is a Roush and it does sit really low. I usually scrape on speed bumps, curbs, railroad tracks and the driveway at my other house has a hump off the street that is a problem too. Ii figure it's going to be a problem with any lift though.

I have the bendpak xpr 10cx, I don't know what the pad height is but it gets under my c5 without any problems and its pretty low to the ground.

BendPak all day. Customer service is second to none, tons of ad-ons, top-quality built.

Their customer service is phenomenally good. I have 5 bendpak lifts right now :scared: however not sure if I'll be a repeat customer. After seeing a few different lifts I went with bendpak because the price was right, and I could get them easily. Overall they are a higher quality product when you are looking across the board at your options. For sure a top 3 brand in my opinion. I wish I could have seen a rotary lift however before I made my decision on lifts because now I am sort of wishing I picked up some rotary lifts instead.

My main problems with bendpak had been lift construction, perhaps I just got a bad batch or something. I had a lot of miscellaneous problems that I shouldn't have had. If you really want to know them all feel free to PM. I've had to replace some of the parts that came with the lift with higher quality stuff, or had to modify the parts that came with the lift...

I'm not sure if either of these pics show it well. It is tough to get good contrasts with a phone on a black car. The side exhaust and the lowered stance make it problematic.

I bought a Challenger through a local dealer and am very happy with it. I went with the E10 and installed it myself with the help of some friends. After installing, I had a leak in a cylinder fitting. The dealer sent out a couple of guys to swap out the oring. About 2 mos. later it started to leak again. The dealer sent out a couple of guys with a new cylinder and installed it in about 30 min. No charge for parts or labor. Nice lift, prompt service. I like the single lever lock release also. If you compare the specs among the certified lifts, you'll find they are almost identical.

But, if the lift is what it should have been you wouldn't have needed customer service in the first place. My lift from Direct Lift arrived in excellent condition and had no issues whatsoever on assembly or since. I have not had to repair or replace a single piece.

You're implying that Direct Lift has a 100% QC rate? It's how many you have and how you fix them that matter IMO. I work for companies that make stuff and you can't be perfect. It's how you handle the imperfection that matters most.

Exactly why I said I won't be a repeat customer. Honestly it's a shame since all the ones I had seen and the reviews I read were great. There are some nice little features on the lifts but I would say the pain in the *** they have been is not worth it. However customer service should always be one of the most important features of the company when you are buying a large piece of equipment from them, even if their product is so high quality you never call them. Cause I bet in 2+ years when it's time for some different cables you'll be giving them a call.

Agreed, nobody has 100% perfection, however one of the roles of QC is to not only find the problems, but find the cause and fix them so they don't happen again. If your design and build quality is good enough your QC department, and your customer service folks, will have very little to do.

All I'm saying is that the overall build quality of my Direct Lift is very nice. As I've said elsewhere, nothing "chinese-ish" about it. Nothing looks questionable anywhere and no issues so far, nor do I expect any.

My lift was damaged in transport.
Worth sent all new parts, main one being a complete power unit, and then they dealt with the shipping company so I didn't have too.

I like the looks of the E10EH2 or E12 with the 2 ft post extensions, seems like that would be plenty of room for just about anything I would run across. I have been looking at the Mohawks so I wouldn't have a overhead limit, built like a tank.....costly too. Maybe the Challenger with the extensions would be good enough.

I've owned my Bendpak XPR-10 just over 1 year. For the most part I feel it's an excellent lift. However I'm currently working with BP's technical assistance folks regarding a concern I have about lift operation in cold weather. I can give you more details if you send me a PM.
