you can have it in any color you like as long as it's red.

looks decent for the price, double slides on the tall drawers.

that seems like a damn good deal for that big of a box if it has the typical hf quality for their big red boxes.

Yep, if it's anything like the 44" or 56", that's a heck of a deal. Cheapest thing I could find on strictlytoolboxes.com was $2100+

The only thing I question with this box is the lack of middle casters, as every box that I've see that big had 6 casters. Might be something to order from HF after the fact.

I didn't even notice that. You're right though I would be a little concerned about that. I've even seen some 56" boxes with center casters. It's also not very deep for a 72" at only 22-5/16 inches. Most 72" boxes I've seen are 24-30 inches deep with the exception of the Excel 72" box which is 22 inches I believe.

Who is going to be the guinea pig and buy one?

I found an old archived thread here on GJ from 2009 that reviews a 72" HF tool box. It's not the same as the new 72" box although very similar and also only has 4 casters. It looks like their old version was better as the guy in this thread says the old one weighs 880lbs and is 29" deep.

Does anyone remember the old box 72" HF box?

not to diminish the HF 72" box, but the strictlytoolboxes boxes are mostly 24" or 30" deep. the 30" especially makes a gigantic difference in usable space (and a larger workspace on top). i do wonder if the construction otherwise is better / worse / same. of course, the stb boxen are also significantly more money. as much weight as they might see, i also don't like the lack of 'middle' casters.

KRL is far above the HF boxes unless you compare to the old one, if it even existed (29" depth). The KRA is the comparable box.
I'm currently accepting donations to purchase one in order to do a thorough write up and review. Once I have reached 500 dollars I will pay the difference and do a side by side comparison with the 44" HF, 56" HF and 54" Snap On KRL. :D

Oh man, I wish we had HF in Canada. I'm tempted to go buy two of these and bring them back but worried about getting nailed at the border with taxes

So do you go 56" with top and bottom combo or 72"????
Ever since the 56 topper came out ive been thinking about 56 top bottom and side locker(s) combo

But the 72 is a good deal for 999

Ahhh, choices choices

For my place I'd rather have, and went with, two 44" cabinets. $740 vs $1000, more maneuverability and capacity by weight. Downside, less cubic inches.

For another ~$50 you can have three of the 44's.

For me I actually prefer a shallow box. my garage is only 21' deep so I had to put my box on the side of the garage for the car to fit and a 24-30" deep box would have been tight there too.

I think this is a big factor for a lot of people as well. Guys in the shop professionally...it doesn't matter. However, I know it matters to me. My box is on the back wall, and things that stick out further would be bad.

Can you open take them out of the box and wipe some grease on them and say you were traveling for work? I want to note that I live as far from a border as you can get and the my advice it without any knowledge border crossings before someone on here jumps my a$$ and they will.

I'm not a$$ jumping, but as a veteran of hundreds of border crossings, that would probably not be a great idea...

Would he save the import duty, probably...

Would he get away with it, probably...

But, if he got caught...

"Have Mercy"...

Lol, yup. Plus they'd want to see a work letter or something and all the drawers would be empty so that excuse wouldn't fly :)

Anyone in northern california interested in my pristine 56"? I want the 72". I am always looking at the strictlytoolboxes.com 72" but for 1000 bucks I don't know if I can pass it up.

I've got one on the way, by next weekend I should have it setup well enough to answer some questions. There are several of the 56's at work (aircraft) that roll everyday with heavy loads of bucking bar and such that seem to be holding up well. The 72 is for my garage and should last forever just sitting there. I'm pretty excited. I prefer the shallower drawers for the garage also. I laid out some tape measures to get an idea how big it would be...holy ****.

Looking forward to reading the review on the box. Was hoping to see one in stores, considering my HF usually has just about everything that HF sells in store. We have a pretty good sized HF in my area, and they have lots of stuff on display for people. Though for some reason they keep the drawers locked on the display tool boxes :lol_hitti

All this talk makes me want to sell the 56" and grab a 72". Does anyone think it needs another set of wheels in the middle? If that was discussed already my apologies.

It's in the printed ad I get at my house now for $999. This is the first time I have seen it in the ad.

In my area the ads don't show the 72" and the website shows it's out of stock due to overwhelming demand. If it's not in my local ad but on the site is it rain check-able? Do you think a store would sub the 56" top and bottom?

I was thinking of picking up 2-3 of these but the shipping gets costly. If they have them in the store or raincheckable that would be music to my ears!

Few crappy shots of my box. So far my only complaint is I really don't like the drawer latches feels cheap and the big top drawer you can't open with one hand.

I own the 44 Inch and am very happy with it. very surprised to have such a quality piece from HF. also like the options to add more space if needed with the cabinet, chest, and add on drawers

Too bad the drawer depth is shallow. That really makes a huge difference. Otherwise you have 5 drawers for you pliers and other similar items.

I will put in a plug for the Montezuma 7215 box I got from strictly toolboxes.com. I bought extra shallow height drawers to replace the deeper ones and now have 24 drawers. The 3 wide drawers on too are great for sockets/ratchets, screw drivers and pliers. Without these, I'd have 3drawers for my screwdrivers.
