I've still got my first box, an old sp tools chest. I was thinking about selling it aswell as another sealey superline pro chest I've recently bought to fund a bigger box and roll cab.

Should I keep it and refurb it? Who still has there first box.

I do, won't ever part with it either. Nothing special but it represents a different time in my life.

Sure do. A circa 97 26" 18 drawer craftsman. Couldn't give me $1,000,000 for it. My dad gave it to me.

I still have my first toolbox, a Craftsman 50 years old. A few years ago I retired most of the wrenches that came in it new and put it away. I will never sell it.

Re: Who still has there first tool box

Mine is a Craftsman top box, was my graduation gift from my mom, and a nice set of Krateur tools in 1972, they went to work with me, 5 days after graduation, at Banning Dodge and Bob's Gulf outside DC.

It went to Capitol Raceway, several homes, fixed many girlfriends cars, my 6-pack Cuda and more. Like Zkling above, for me, it holds more memories than tools. Still sits on my shelf in this home's garage and gets used weekly, at least.

Will keep it until, I die, then it goes to my son with all the other tools I got since then.

Re: Who still has there first tool box

Keep yours!

I have my first "Roll-A-Way" (as I called it over 40 years ago) it was a cheap box then but it has served me well and it knows all my secrets. Its seen everything from my crappy first welds and too much Bondo usage to my kids being born and eventually going off to colleges and beyond. One day it will be my sons decision to keep it or get rid of it but till then it sits proudly next to newer and so-called better units.

I have mine.

Lift lid Craftsman carry box bought while in high school.
It sits empty now but still is in awesome shape, very useable and still has the carry tray that nests.

My father was not a tool guy sadly so tools were stored on a peg board in the basement or in the dwrs of an old wooden desk in the garage.

Now I own more tool boxes than I can count.

Ying and Yang I guess. LOLZ

1972 Craftsman and I still have it. Other than a dent on the top front edge it's almost like new.

Still got my top chest. My first carry box got killed due to my idiot sister, she ran over it and her husband at the time gave me the top box. It's a Popular Mechanics 26" pretty awesome replacement, I'll never get rid of it!!

I still have my hand carry box. I don't remember which came first, I think it was the old huot my dad found and gave me or it was the kennedy 520 my grandpa gave me.

My Grandfather bought me my first set of Tools from Sears in 1969.
I still have the Craftsman Box (a 2 drawer).
my older sister's boyfriend stole all of the SAE tools and left all the Metric ones behind.
(I had no need for Metric in the Mid 70's...Now I am glad I at least have those.)
But, I would never part with that box...
It was an 8th Grade Graduation present...Plus it kept me from taken all my Dads tools!

Yep, A green Wizard with a white plastic handle. Got a Stanley Hammer, Murphy Pliers, a set of open end wrenches, and a few other things. I wish I recalled where I stashed it...
It is nearby, but not sure where. I will get back to you.

I honestly don't remember getting a toolbox as a teenager or my Dad getting me one, other than one of those blow mold plastic holders the Craftsman tools come in. But when I started making a living with my tools, I bought my first Snap On top box. It was a second hand box, but I didn't keep it long and upgraded to one a little bigger.
Kept that box up until last Dec. and sold it to my son to upgrade to the HF 44" with two side cabinets. Of course he also got the Snap On bottom and Mac center I added to the top along with the side shelf.

I still have my first two toolboxes. Wouldn't think of getting rid of them, the emotional value far out weighs the few dollars I could get for them.

To the OP, keep the box, or be prepared to kick yourself for selling it.

Still have mine, one of those craftsman roll carts. Got it when I was 16 working at a pontiac dealer. Still have it at my work, sits right across the bay from my monster. Can't bring myself to get rid of it, the $100 or so I could get just wouldn't be worth it.

Bought new in 1973. Still have the original key that fits all 3 boxes. Have had several others since then and this one has been retired to holding specialty tools & spares.

I still have my first tool truck purchase, blue point top and bottom KRB series.

I bought it towards the end of 6th grade in middle school and paid for it in total during the summer or most of it at least.

Then the summer of 8th grade I bought my first vehicle, 89 bronco.

I was ahead of my time at the time. Guaranteed the coolest kid in my grade with my new snap on swag

Yes. My dad bought me a Husky kit when I started messing around with cars, I still have that box and an old grey Craftsman top box a friends father gave me. It was his first box and totally rusted up. I wire wheeled it and painted it flat black. Its sitting on a Remline bottom, which was the first one I bought myself.

My first box was like the craftsman/task force 26 inch top with a bottom 2 drawer with opening cabinet locker thing. Got it at wall mart for 50 bucks in the 90s Its still in relatively nice shape and I still use it for storage purposes. I do not find it sentimental to me though.

I do. The small craftsman on top. My parents gave it to me. It still has what I need to put in the Jeep if I start rock crawling again.

Nope, I could get the first one I bought back if I wanted to though. I know where it is... 10 drawer top Craftsman early/mid 70's. One of my friends has it. Before that was a wood box made out of plywood, (not well made) when I was 16 or so, and both my dad's beat to hell adn back again carry boxes are long gone. I really can't say I miss any of them. :dunno:
