Like the title says.......

Portable BandSaw Stand...Why Didn't I Make One Sooner, too?

After scoring, over here...

And Being Reminded/ Inspired over here.....

I finally started and completed this project. Everything except for the paint.

And like KMinAF (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/member.php?u=76301) said "Why didn't I make this sooner?"

I feel very similar..... Oh Well.....here it is....

I started picking through the scraps and Pondering how 3 brain Cells, and a pile of rusty steel was gonna work out.

I started on the body that'll hold the saw.

I wanted it to not have any "Special Parts" or "Keys" or "Pins" to secure it.

So, I used the "Wedge" Theory. It fits tight and doesn't wobble at all!!!

I also didn't want to be F*ckin' around and replacing screws or finding removed tables or other parts.

Don't get me wrong,....The Swag Stuff is nice and quality, and American made, but there is too much of a process to get the saw back to "Portable" mode.

Here a few more updates.....

I picked up the HoBo Freight Foot Pedal, On/Off Switch. One Click on,...One Click off.

I went to HD to find some paint. Dewalt Yellow is tough to find in a can, so I tried a few other colors and headed over to the Dewalt section to compare.

Dewalt Yellow is even different on two different tools. The ChopSaw and the AirCompressor were two different shades.

The good news, though..... If it bother me too bad, a little Lacquer Thinner will make it go away.

Maybe I should have named it "The 30' stand".....because at 30' it looks awesome...

That is a great design. Its neat to watch a simple idea progress through other peoples interpretations and changes into something really outstanding.

This is my first, failed attempt,..... at controlling the chips.....

The aluminum chips fell into the Wheel/Band. The chips stayed on the rubber tire.....

Eventually, my "FeedRate" exceeded "traction" and the band slipped.

This old toothbrush was an attempt to redirect the chips and wipe the rubber wheel......

It doesn't work very well, yet.......

Having two band saws already, I saw a need for a third, which is the same DeWalt you have here. I picked it up from a buddy of mine which had been used once and I have been meaning to make a stand to hold it in place. Now I have that much more motivation to get it done. Your design looks to have turned out great! Good work!

(It feels good to get my first post over with after lerking around for the last month or two!!!)

I would put a good chip brush to prevent the chips from messing the wheels/tires.

That is what I was attempting to do with the tooth brush. I looked at the bottom of the saw and compared it to a Milwaukee. I was hoping to mount a Milwaukee brush onto the Dewalt.

Where would you get a good chip bush?

So far, the chip chute redirects the chips away from the wheels. Plus it directs it to the can.
