I need to install some plastic rivets for a repair I need to do. I'm assuming that they can't be set with a "normal" rivet gun used for aluminum and steel rivets right? I've had a few times in the past where I could have used a plastic rivet gun also for bumpers and fender liners. So I think it's time to get one. Searching amazon and parts stores websites it doesn't look like there are many options out there. Either really expensive or really cheap. I don't think I would use it enough to justify the expensive ones. HF has one for 13 bucks after coupon, http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-riveter-with-40-industrial-strength-poly-rivets-97757.html. It has good reviews on the HF site. Is it good enough for home use or should I look into some of the more expensive kits?
Amazon has a marson but one review says they are made in china now. There are a lot more expensive ones in the 60-100 dollar range but I think they are out of my price range for how little I will use it, unless the HF ones are complete garbage.
So will the HF plastic rivet gun work for the DIYer? Anyone have the HF plastic rivet gun?
