Well I figured I should start up a "Build" thread before I get too far along in my progress.

My wife and I moved from suburban Ohio to rural western Ohio in November of 13 , I'm between New Lebanon and West Alexandria. We have five acres surrounded completely by farm land. My closest neighbor is a quarter mile away so we have some good privacy. We love having our space from neighbors, Our neighbor is very nice but it is nice to not have people leaving notes on our cars about the dogs barking like they did at our old house.

The garage is what sold me on the property. I forget the measurements right now but I believe it is 45 x 35. There is also another garage that has been built on which is about a 25 x 45. It has a barn style gambrel roof so it has very high ceilings. Block walls with .25'' steel c channel around the garage door so it is built pretty strong.

Will update with current pictures and more details

Ran my new feed, The previous owner had some 12/3 that fed the whole garage and plugged into a 220 outlet on the house.

Temporarily wired until I could move the panel a little bit farther down the wall so that I can put it in emt.

This is after it was moved down the wall and mounted. The wires hanging off and the emt are temporary as well.

Got a new compressor. 80 gal 2 stage 5hp from Eaton Compressor. They are local to me so I went right to the warehouse and picked it up.

Comparison of the new compressor to my old craftsman 36 gal oilless. That little red one is the loudest one in the world. lol

Looking good!
Excellent progress. I'm looking for motivation so i can continue my refurb. Thank-you

Thanks! I wish I had taken before pictures of my whole property. It is slowly but surely coming along. I keep finding new ideas and can't ever get them all finished. Hopefully tonight I can get my compressor set in place and wired.

Got a lot of progress done on painting.

1F6AD793-05DF-4829-878A-FEF1FE363653_zpsfr34syqw.jpg

I've only got 1 corner left to paint. The previous owner left a stack a spider filled shingles. I have been reluctant to move them because of all the spiders but i will have to grit my teeth and do it.

I wanted to show what I am doing at the top. I have been insulating and putting up black plastic as a vapor barrier. Then over top with OSB.

Well I got the compressor moved to the other side of the garage. Moving it proved to be quite a feat without a fork lift (about 980lbs). I ended up borrowing a pallet truck from a buddy of mines work and we laid down plywood to roll over the gravel driveway. I'm gonna use my engine hoist to lift it up and unbolt it from the skid. I also got rubber isolators to put on the feet and then bolt to the concrete.

Lookin good! Lots of work ahead but its coming along. Love those angled side lights. Great idea.

Those are actually coming down, The previous owner had installed them and it looks like a 3 year old wired them up. I am still considering putting some angle lights up. I didn't like the way those put off light though, it seemed almost blinding in your face. The didn't have any over head light though, just the angle ones. So that may have been the issue. I have switched everything to t8 though so if anything I will get new fixtures to put up.

We lived in Kettering before we moved out here. And I work in Miamisburg. I grew in Fairborn. We just got sick of having neighbors. Our dogs like to bark at night and we were getting notes left on our cars so it was time to go lol

Got some updates....

E45FD8FB-9BE7-4222-8FA6-F5EF908F285A_zpsw4dfnkvh.jpg

Finally got the old shingles moved that had probably been sitting in the same spot of 25 years. It was like that old show Fearfactor. There were hundreds of spiders that had mad a nest in and around the pile of shingles.

C3EFE53D-692F-48D5-901A-6E0AE0DF6C9E_zpsmc5hlhif.jpg

Cleaned up and ready to paint. I got it all painted but forgot to take a picture. It still needs one more coat in the corner. I have ended up using 15 gallons of Dry-Lok but it has been worth it.

06C9BD5E-51C9-422F-9FDC-F2BC81817064_zpslp6b4ior.jpg

Got the electric ran to the other side of the garage for the compressor. Don't mind the romex at the top, it is a temporary run so that I have light on the other side while working.

Got the compressor set, I am going to build a room around it to cut down even more on sound.

My project this weekend was replacing the door to the garage which was a steel fire door with a steel frame. It was a hob knobbed set up where they had welded the hinges on the outside and the frame was swiss cheese because of rust. It also didn't lock without a padlock which was a pain.
FC5DBEE1-8942-4AC5-AC72-C9638080DF7A_zpslumou0yh.jpg

It ended up being more of a task than I had anticipated. I ended up having to rent a saw after i ended up breaking some block on the bottom. (filling in with concrete).

This was one of the hardest things I have ever done. The saw is so heavy and I was doing the whole job alone. Lifting the saw up and then trying to cut was really rough.

Well I haven't updated in a while. I have been doing a ton to the shop but haven't documented it very well.

The biggest happening is that I decided to go with Racedeck flooring. After weighing all of my options this will be what I need. This is the layout I decided to go with.

I finally got our shops sign up as well.

Did a lot of landscaping on the house, we have a baby shower next weekend and we are trying to get the house in perfect order.

I got my bench grinder off my work bench and freed up a lot of space on my work bench.
D6FE5D30-058F-46AD-9F70-5A7521D47247_zpsirvqoebm.jpg

I had a buddy of mine fab up a bar for the vise that came with my work bench. I lost the rod on the highway somewhere between northern indiana and southern ohio lol.

THis is a picture of the other side of the garage. It is a lot bigger than one would think. It is basically the same as it was when it was built in the early 80s. I am going to pull all the electric and re run it all.

This was my latest shop project amongst other things. We did a true HID retrofit on my Excursion. I had already had the 05-07 harley lights installed but we blacked out the light reflectors.

I also put a new set of rims with the proper offset on it.
3BC620C1-B9A3-43C8-A871-E3CF2E6E9DAE_zpso0qb379x.jpg

I put a new head unit in as well. I had the Pioneer app radio 3 and I could never get it to function very well. I replaced it with an Alpine ILX-007 which is designed for apple carplay. The functionality is the best of any headunit I've had.

I also had my fire extinguishers re certified and mounted.

Thanks Brother! I've been putting in a lot of time trying to get it ready before my son comes.

I did the same thing before my son was born.... I was flat out working like a dog to get stuff done ahead of time....

I am sure glad as I have way less time to work on stuff now, but I wouldn't trade it for anything..

Have fun and keep up the great work!

I have to hurry and finish my Mustang as well because my dad made me promise that I would bring my son home in it. He brought me home in a cammed Monza and he swears thats what turned me into a gear head. Granted it was probably the first 8 years of my life spending every weekend at the dragstrip. lol

Not on here, I've had a few on my regional forum and on Corral.net but there is too much trash talking rather than people trying to give each other ideas.

Yes I hear you. I just quit a Forum I was on because of the trash talking... The Turbo Forums has been very helpful for me though lately... Sorry to sidetrack your thread...

Yeah, I usually bounce around different forums depending on what I am working on or what I am trying to get inspiration for.

Great shop space!

Thanks! It is a constant work in progress.
