I had an ad up on craigslist that I wanted to buy a vintage craftsman 150. A guy emailed me saying he had one sitting in an old shed at a house he just sold. He sent me some pics and a video of it running and said he only wanted $75 for it!

Model number 103.24530
it has surface rust and lots of dirt from sitting for so many years, looks to be 100% complete with original motor belt and cord.

I didnt get to see the table before I purchased it because it had a piece of wood bolted over it. Took it off after I got it home and it only had 2 small holes about 1/8" deep.

More pics of restoration to follow.

I paid $100.00 for this one with a 3/4HP craftsman motor on it-from the original owner.

Another awesome looking 150. Did you restore it yourself or buy it that way c39er?
Seems all the 150's are about the same from what I have seen. I think there's 2 different colors some had a light option. Some had a multi speed attachment and I've seen one with a tilt table
I just put Wtb vintage craftsman 150 drill press and posted a few photos

took the motor apart today and had a question: is it safe to use the "CRC lectra-motive" electronic parts cleaner on these old motors with the fiber wrapped wiring?
Also the fiber wrapped wiring looks to be in good condition and still has good flexibility. Should I replace it or just let it be since it is still fine? Motor was working fine before i cleaned it.
the bearings were a little stiff took them out of both ends and soaked them in oil and they are running very smooth now!
cleaned out a lot of mud from several bee nests with the air compressor

I'm no expert, but own 3 of these presses (a 150 and two 100's). The 150, appearing in the late 1950's was the successor to the model 100. It didn't add much to the 100 (that I can tell), except a new quill return spring arrangement and a quick-release depth stop nut. The tilting table was dropped from the model 100 in about the mid-1950's, but according to catalogs I've viewed, the tilting table could be purchased as a separate item for a few subsequent years. The multi-speed attachment I think was always simply a catalog add-on item. I'm lucky that two of mine had them when I purchased them.

Outlaw knows more about these presses that I do. I'm beginning to suspect he was on the design team.

got the motor taken apart and completely refurbished. call me crazy but i like the old patina on the motor im going to clear coat it and leave it rustic looking. Everything else will be blasted and re-painted.

Looks like you're off to a good start Powerstroke...keep up the good work.

I started restoration on a Craftsman 100 DP several months ago. Did an electrolysis bath but its been sitting in pieces since then. Hopefully your resto will provide some gumption to get going again. Carry on soldier!

Nice project, PWRstroke. The motor turned out sweet. Smooth as silk!

I just put my 100 back together last night after polishing all the metal hardware. The paint is original that has kinda grown on me. The motor was rebuilt a GJ member who replaced wiring and bearings before I acquired it. I still need to fix the band machining that was brushed out sometime in the past.

As Bill stated, the 100 originally came with the tilting table, which mine does have. I read on owwm that they only offered it standard in 1946. I do have the multi-speed attachment as well.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! I just hope it turns out as good as all the 150's on here. Eventually i will re wire my motor, but for now its in good condition

wingnut65 that looks great! I sure wish a could find a multi-speed attachment. I looked at completed auctions on ebay and 2 sold one for 150 and one went for over $200!!

At those prices I may just make one.

I like the idea of the tilt table does it lock firm in place pretty well, is there an play once locked down?

Finish it! Finish it! My dad is the same with his projects he starts them then starts a few more then pretty soon he has half a dozen projects unfinished. He's retired too! Then i get a call from him asking me to look some stuff up on the net because he forgot how the parts go back together. haha i love it though

Nice find on the 150, I've been looking for a table top version for a little while. I just need to be more patient and keep a keen eye out..

Those cleaned up ones look great as well!!!

Got everything back from the media blaster the other day 30$ for everything was not bad
plus 2 cans of rustoleum professional primer and dark machine gray.

Made a lot of headway today just have to polish sand the table and mount the motor!

Nice job! I rebuilt a Rockwell 11-280 this winter and sold my chi-com one. It runs smooth and being a radial press it gets a lot of use. Cheers!

Looks good. Can you tell who actually made them or did several make them? The source code 103 says Sarlo Power Mower Inc. / King Seeley / Roper made them.

Nice, that sounds like a good one. They have a big front guard like the 150, reminds me of some kind of cartoon alien space ship haha. post a pic if you have time.
