Your mileage may vary. Check your local store.

I know there's a Menards thread already, but I thought this deserved its own thread.

My local Menards has many hand tools on closeout. It includes open stock and sets of Gearwrench and Masterforce hand tools.

My store had lots of different items on closeout. I personally picked up a GW double box end wrench set for $11, a GW ratcheting screwdriver set for $7 and a Masterforce USA-made crow's feet set for $8.

They had tons of stuff I didn't need, so I didn't go crazy. A lot of the discounts were approaching 80% off.

Here's a pic of the open stock GW stubby wrenches and GW stubby non-ratcheting combo wrench sets for $12.

I found a fairly accurate confirmation of this on the menards.com website.

Set your store to whatever is local, then click on the "promotions" tab and then "rays list clearance". I found a whole slew of gearwrench stuff for big $ off. Gonna finish this beer and head on up to the store and see whats actually on the shelf!

Store in Oregon Ohio has a lot of Gearwrench, including stubbies, but not racheting stubbies. All China. They did have some 3/8 ratchet 20piece metric/SAE masterforce (made in USA) sets for $7.50,,, ticket said regular price was $39 (i think).

Set seems pretty decent, certainly for $7.50 it is decent.

I'll take the 20 piece set of stubbies if someone wants to ship it to me.

Just picked up a few things and filled in some missing sizes of ratcheting stubbies. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks subby! Out for dinner with the parents and made them stop by. Picked up a bunch of stuff. Look in the screwdriver area as well l. I picked up some masterforce ones for cheap. Also got some masterforce and gearwrench wrenches. They also had the small socket sets and some impact sockets on clearance.

Traverse city location that is. Ymmv

It's unusual for Menards to make significant clearance markdowns. I'll stop when I get out of work tonight and see what's left. It makes me wonder what will be replacing all of this stuff...

My nearest store is only 866.1 miles away. Kinda think the trip to Wyoming would negate any good deals for me.

I was thinking the same thing. There are some uncommonly good deals there. Nothing I need so I'll leave it for the rest of your guys. Strange.

Considering it is mainly Gearwrench but they are not dropping other Apex brands, I bet they are shifting from Gearwrench to Masterforce on some items. But who knows.

Decided to go and see what mine had, shelves looked like a store 2 hours after black Friday opening. Pretty much nothing Gear Wrench left. All the single piece ratcheting wrenches were $5-$7.5.

They had a sale on a lot of Stanley stuff but, at least for the boxes, it was 10% off or less.

I'm only 230 miles from the nearest one! :(

I wish we had cool tool stores around here. The biggest "tool" store we have is Sears....and it's not even a Sears Outlet...

I just visited my store. It looks like they're getting rid of a couple GW lines, and then odd sizes of others. The Masterforce stuff that was on clearance had a layer of dust on top, so it looks like it's stuff they don't move much of.

The other store in town is much smaller, and they didn't have any Gearwrench stuff, and none of the clearance Masterforce. They had some really good prices on Performax stuff, but I passed.

When i think about tools Menards really doesnt come to mind. Even though they have tools they dont have a whole lot of wrenches and sockets really just some masterforce and gearwrench wrenches mainly. So i think menards is overlooked at least in my area everything is dusty. That is probably why they are trying to move some of this stuff out and in my area sears is across the street from menards so that doesnt help at all for them. Maybe theyll clearance the large 4 piece completer ratcheting sets and the long pattern wrenches also.

I have to post a pic of my haul.. Everything was still in stock. I got a complete set of Ratcheting stubbies (singles). There were 3 sets of the 20pc stubbies for $20.. I nabbed one, the other 2 had broken packaging but all the pieces were there. Got the long screwdrivers for $6, a set of cushion grip usa's for $2. I got the last 6pc double box ratcheting MM for $11, I left the 4 PC SAE on the shelf. Got a set of Allen branded wrenches as well for $5, (US made by Danaher) I felt like I robbed the place. I then drove to advance and got the last 3/8 roto for $19. The cashier at advance was like.. "How did you know it was on clearance??"

IF anyone is serious, I will pick the 20pc sets up at cost+shipping. I am in close distance to a ton of stores and I will be headed towards one tomorrow morning that shows 4 in stock.

The Champaign IL store had their stuff on closeout. It was still well-stocked at 1pm today. That is except the 8 and 10mm wrenches. Those came home with me.

Yeah, they usually just let them sit forever until someone buys them. This really is weird.

My local store's website has super low prices on this stuff, too. It's been on clearance for ages, but never at a significant markdown.

I'm going to be at Menard's at 6:30 in the morning. I'm going to grab Crowsfoot sets, a bunch of Gearwrench double box end stuff, and the 8pc extra long screwdriver set.

Just got back. Most of the interesting items are still there. No one's bought any of it because they still have the same price tags they've had for months. No one knows the stuff is on clearance.

I grabbed metric and SAE crowsfoot sets (Allen/Armstrong/whatever you want to call it from Apex's megaforge in Texas) and an 8 pc extra long screwdriver set (Pratt-Read). My total was $23 and change after tax. At regular price, it was $110.

I was going to buy the 20 pc Gearwrench stubby set, the 4 pc SAE double box end set, and 6 open stock metric double box ends, but they were all China. The Chinese Gearwrench I've used is ****, so all of that stuff stayed on the shelf.

I would love to have the SAE and metric crowfoot wrench sets, but the closest store to me is Chillicothe OH (about 3 hours) and they don't even have them in stock lol. Oh well. We don't get much in the way of tool deals here in WV.

My local Menards is over 800 miles away. I called and asked and they are shipping me the stubby set I wanted even though it says not available for home delivery!

They didn't have any more of the GW 39pc ratcheting screwdriver sets left, if anyone can pick me up one I'd be happy to pay!

I picked up for $76 out the door:

39pc Gearwrench Ratcheting Screwdriver Set
10-19mm individual Gearwrench stubby ratchet wrenches
Gearwrench Ratcheting nut driver set
Masterforce (usa) Metric open end style crows foot wrench set
20pc Gearwrench metric/standard non ratcheting stubby wrench set

not bad! thanks for posting this

The Livonia, MI store was pretty much picked over at 9pm last night (esp after another random customer and I got to it). The stubby ratchet wrenches were all but gone - had 2 sets of the gearwrench 20pc no ratchet stubbies left, and a few screwdriver sets.

Spent $147.64 and saved $544.56. Terre Haute IN store still has several individual wrenches left. No full sets left. Thanks for the heads up SMKS.

I picked up 2 sets of the stubbies this morning. One for myself and one for someone who doesn't live near a Menards. Just looking to cover tax and shipping. Let me know if you would like them. uploadfromtaptalk1410623955701.jpg
