I ran across this multi meter test lead set the other day on ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/171370564234?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT. For 65 bucks shipped it's an amazing kit. The same exact kit is over 500 bucks on grainger, http://www.grainger.com/product/WESTWARD-Multi-Purpose-Connector-1EKN6?s_pp=false&picUrl=//static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/1EKN6_AS01?$smthumb$). Has all sorts of adapters to get into wiring harness connectors. Also has backprobes and alligator clips and leds and all sorts of things. The nice thing is you can use all this with your multimeter but also with your PP3. So you can hook these up to your PP3 to send power to a window motor or whatever.

I ordered one Monday and tracking says I should have it Friday. Just thought I would pass the deal on.

Going to keep an eye on that one. Throw some pics and info up when it arrives!

Will do.

Interesting the label on the package appears identical to the westward one

I'm almost positive they are the exact same kit. Crazy this one is 450 dollars cheaper then the grainger one.

I've been putting together my own kit for the last few years by grabbing a harness or two everytime I go to the junkyard and taking the wires out of the connector. I also have a set of wire adapters from GM to get into connectors. But the adapters in this kit will be nicer and easier to plug together to get into whatever you are testing. For 65 bucks I figured I couldn't go wrong.

This arrived this morning and it ends up it's the same westward kit and even says it's made for grainger right on the case. I'm very happy for 65 bucks shipped. It's a very complete set with all sorts of round, square, spade, etc. terminal adapters to get into wiring harnesses without poking holes. Also has alligator clips, backprobes, 5k pots for testing, led test lights, Y adapters, stackable test lead wires, and a nice case.

Great kit at a great price for anyone that does electrical testing. One thing I really like is it's all 4mm banana connectors so it will plug and play with my power probe. So I can plug the right terminal adapter into a wiring harness for a power window motor or whatever and plug it into my PP3 and send power to it. Nice early Christmas present to myself and didn't cost much more then a good set of fluke test leads.

Here's some pictures, probably take two posts to get them all up.

Bought one. I'm not sure if it's really a great deal or not but thanks.

I think it's a good deal if you do electrical testing. Considering it's the same exact kit as grainger sells for over 500 bucks I'd say 65 dollars is a steal.

I was playing around with the pieces some more tonight and found a ton of combinations I could have used in the past. Really looking forward to using it in the future.

Thanks for the heads up. Always wanted one of these kits but never could justify the money.

Google 1ekn6 and this set pops up from a bunch of vendors and brands, Sealy sells it, as well as the manufacturer on Alibaba. $65 is by far the best price with most over $150. One note of concern is that the plugs are not fully shrouded, so guessing not OSHA or CAT III if you require those certifications.

GJ effect has kicked in, vendor is selling them 15x their normal pace today, 15 in last 24hr, says 66% sold at 120 units, so maybe 60 left, ie 4 days at this rate.

Oh what the heck. I guess this set will pay for itself with just one use.

Thanks OP.

That's kind of the way I feel about it. If it can save some time an frustration it would be worth it. I think I'll be buying some Load Pro leads too.

I'm the electrical guy in our shop. I own this same set and paid a lot more for it.
I use it a lot and it is a decent quality set; $65 is a steal for it.

I'm thinking about buying the rest of his stock and flipping them for about $150 a set....

It's always refreshing when the actual vendor joins the forum to discuss the deal. Welcome to GJ and thanks for the deal!!

I just pulled the Paypal trigger on one.
Should be good... however, I figure that if it's not useful to me, I can always turn it around and re-sell for $100+ once that guy's Ebay stockpile is exhausted.
Thanks OP for the heads up!

Got mine today order minutes before my first post in the thread. I was impressed trying not to buy a second one.

Ordered one too. Looks like a great deal. Pretty sure it's overkill for what I do, but I've been wanting a decent set of test leads since I got a nice new multimeter...

When would these leads be needed?

Scanner Danner gets it done with a test light, alligator clips and backprobe pins
(and meter and scope). Never seen him use any leads like those in this kit.

Really, really want to order one... But can't justify it being in between jobs right now... Still might have to though.

The adapters for the different pins you can use to test different things. Say your power window motor(or fuel pump, or cooling fan, or any component in the car) is working. You can unplug it from the connector and hook these adapters up to the pins coming from the car side connector. Hook your meter up and see if you have power. There are many ways to test and you can test this with a test light. but these go onto the terminal pins so you don't have to hold it and balance a test light on the pin. So if you are going to be testing for a while you can just keep your meter hooked up and don't have to keep going back with a test light each time you do something to see if it fixed the problem.

Also you can use these adapters with a PP3 so you can send power to something. Using the same window motor example you can hook these adapters up to the window motor connector and connect your PP3 and send power and ground to the window motor to see if it works. Yes you can hold the PP3 pointed tip on the connector to do the same but sometime it's nice to have a solid hook up. And I ran into this last week where I couldn't get my pp3 tip to the window motor connector so in that case I could have hooked the adapters up as an extension and been a lot easier. They are a good non intrusive way to get into wiring harnesses for testing.

Are they a must? Not for most things. Are they really helpful in certain situations? Most definitely. They are just another tool to have to use in trouble shooting. Another option that comes in really handy for certain situations. Just like the PP3 isn't needed and I can't remember scannerdanner ever using one but it comes in super handy for certain things. You can never have enough tools to help you trouble shoot and with how everything these days is electronic on cars and only getting more and more you will have a lot more electrical trouble shooting that needs to be done. Plus it comes with back probes and alligator clips. I know I'll use it plenty for electrical work.

yeah, but that is kind of like comparing Micheal Jordan to all other basketball players!

No mechanic in America is in Scanner Danner's league, except perhaps Tom Magliozzi, but we just lost him, that leaves his brother Ray, Edd China, and a couple or three guys in the top tiers of auto racing and a couple of others who only guys in the field would have heard of.
