The Stahlwille garage

hi,

This is my garage project, it started late august when we bought our new house.
After some work in the house, it was time to start with the garage.
For the moment it is still a mess, but thats until we finished the carport with extra storage.

A few weeks back i started making my workbench, I welded it together and integrated 2 old cabinets that i already had for a few weeks.
Then i painted it green to match my Stahlwille toolbox (with tool control system).
After everything was dry, i put a 18mm multiplex top on it, then i had a stainless steel 2mm think plate cut and bend an glued it on the top.

With everything on its place i started with making the drawers, i found some sliders who can hold 90kg fully extracted, i just needed to weld on a plate for mounting is on the bench, after these where on their place i had a carpenter made me some drawers. The idea was that i wanted some drawers where i can put my current project on, and just slide them into the bench when not needed, and slide them out when i want to work on it.
Just need to make some doors for them and paint al the drawers and doors grey to match my toolbox

Last week we also installed airco/heating system from general

Here some pictures from the progress

Thank you sunbimmer for the reply,
I recommend buying the stahlwille tools, you wont regret it, it makes life so much easier :).
Over here we don't have a "garage-scene", most people just use it to store their bike and garden tools and other junk.

Finished up de room above the garage "the café".
We isolated it, and finished it of with wood, put some electricity, internet, home theatre, ac/heating in.
Its a nice place to hang out with some friends and have a drink (or 2).

3 weeks ago the pavement was finished, so this week we started with the carport/shed/terrace.

When this is finished i can clean up my garage and make a workshop

sorry for the crappy phone pics

A very good start to the build thread, you have me hooked. I like the bench and the drawer slides, looks like a good way to use space. Keep the pics coming.

last few days i put some extra electricity in the garage and painted the drawers.
And today i scored a vintage fuel pump.
pics of the work will follow

here are a few pictures of my toolboxes :
new stahlwille toolbox with10 drawers with 8 of them filledwith their tool control system,
an old stahlwille rollmaster next to it (for comparison)

Very good theme. I have had my Stahwille roll cart since 1978. You will notice from my avatar I painted it Ferrari colors! Sorry about that. It used to be like yours.

thank you guys for the positive reply's!

really love the manoskops, easy to handle and you don't have to unwind them after use.

@ggielen & black banshee, ik woon in Herentals ;-)

@abstamaria , i know, i am a "silent follower" of your project. Really love your garage and your cars!

During the holidays i got some stuff done. I sandblasted the handles and i.d. plates and sprayed them black.
Also got the drawers painted(2 times). the first grey was to light, so i took a drawer and had the color made color match.
I still have to make the doors, but that will be after the holidays.
I had some old fruit crates, and i put them on the wall. they are now holding technical books and user manuals and stuff

last week i scored an old fuel pump in working condition, i already tore it apart and cleaned the inside, still searching how i am going to paint it (BP?).

here some pictures, they are a bit dark, colors are much better in real life.

happy holidays to everyone!

What a great shop.

Love the look of the brick and the roof.

Is the roof tile, or an engineered product?

What a fantastic Garage. Love your layout, organization and deco. Look forward to seeing what you do with the carport. Those are some heavy duty drawer slides. What are they rated for?

Thank you guys!

Yes, the roof is tile, but these are shiny, not matt like the most of the houses around here.

The drawer-slides are 130% extractable, and are rated to hold 90kg / 198lb. Hope that will do :).

Today i moved to the other side of the garage. I placed some extra electricity, and placed my lathe in place ('50s lorch) and mounted my drill against the wall.

the outside building is almost finished, only the roof needs to be finished, and the electricity.
But lots of rain over here, so progress is slow.

Thanks!

Last week I started my adjustable/foldable welding table project.
I started with an heavy old industrial drawing table, which you can adjust the height, put it vertical and fold together.

first i removed the wooden top.

and started with some L-profile of 5mm thick and drilled them so accept the M14 bolts

IMG_1720_zps5qkhx3st.jpg

then i cut the m14 bolts

DSC00333_zpswonlvvr4.jpg

Then i turned the end of the bold down to 10.8mm

DSC00337_zpshwlszx5p.jpg

For the top i am using plates of 12cm wide, 80cm long and 12mm thick.
i drilled these to 11mm

happiness is a tight fit :)

DSC00335_zps5wzcdrgt.jpg

Then i welded the bolts to the plates and the L-iron to the table
mandatory welding pic

Then put everything together
and the almost finished table

Thanks for the invitation!

koendd & pascal, if you're ever in the neighborhood you should come by and grab a beer

Pascal is that an mg in your avatar?

Ordered some tools and stuff this week, hope they arrive next week.

Didn't really update much the last weeks.
But here is a couple of stuff

We finished the terrace

DSC00357_zps7lt9qce1.jpg

Put everything in its place and made a detachable vice and bench grinder.
Also made a welding screen that i can swivel, so if i'm welding or grinding a car, i can swivel them in front of the window for protection.

DSC00358_zpsbsxdkct9.jpg

Finished up the restoration of the gaspump, and also got a '55 zündapp bell R150

IMG_0065_zpstbv2wslt.jpg

Scored an old industrial cabinet, plan to keep the original paint.
Still need to start organising.

DSC00360_zpsggocv8wy.jpg

placed some racks, same story here. Need to take everything out and start organising.
Thats my bug in the picture, 1303S , 2liter 172HP (crank), fk coilover in front, bilstein in the back, 6-piston calipers, wheels widened to the inside 2" for a "sleeper"-look. Used to be my daily driver, untill i became a father. Drove it to italy, swiss, ...

DSC00359_zpspz4uauc1.jpg

I started organizing the drawers, still a lot of work!
But i think in the end, it really pays of when everything has its place.

Thanks for reading.

merbie: i bought it from a shop in holland, its a product that they produce themselves, they have different sizes and colors to choose from. And they're not that expensive. If you want i can sent them their site.

Jyzze and vieux: thanks for the nice comments!
