I thought that's what the jack shaft arrangement was for... Now, I'm really happy.
It runs really nicely, but needs some cleaning up for sure.

Drill press is nice but the story is outstanding. Not only would I have given you the drill press, I would have shut the sale down for 15 minutes and let you look around by yourself just to piss off the estate sale vultures. I've seen it myself, these estate sale wackos get way too aggressive over everyday items they hope to flip for an easy $50. They peek in windows, climb around/over fences, **** their way in to get into the front of the line, etc. I place too much value on my dignity to stoop that low.......

Don't know much about those. Is it basically on a tensioner pulley so that you can change the belt to the other locations on that slow speed pulley?
She's needs a little cleaning but a damn sweet deal, so yeah I guess

The middle pulley is on a pivot, so that tightening the motor tightens both belts at once. Typically, if it has the correct matching pulleys, once the tension is set, you can flip the belts from one groove to another without loosening or readjusting the belts. Just push the belt towards the smaller pulley and turn it by hand.

Excellent story and nice press. That $50 went to a widow maybe in need of burial expenses and so on. My father in law passed away past December and we found out how expensive a funeral could be. Yes I go to estate sales all the time and people do lose their sanity over old **** thinking its a treasure. I watch them acting like a bunch of hungry wolves fighting over a dead animal. They over look many nice items while I take my time and pick up what they miss being in a rush score big. F..king idiots.

Cool story and a nifty vintage drill press to boot.
Not sure what the weather was there today as my niece didn't mention it but having lived in Central Texas for 8 years back in the 70's 35 Degrees in Central Texas = 10 degrees in Minnesota or Washington State.
