Husky rolling storage as miter stand

I have a DeWalt 708 and 723 stand. I like them both very well. They make for an excellent miter platform but they are not all that convenient to move or store.

A few months ago, I picked up a couple of Husky rolling storage boxes from Home Depot. They have two dados in the lid that can take 2×4s.

It’s a really simple system that is hugely portable. This little 10" Hitachi saw has to be set at 45* to fit in the box but it leaves plenty of room for other stuff like extension cords, etc. I have another identical box for my little Rolair JC-10 air compressor so I can move the infeed rest to the other box and position it wherever I want for cutting long boards.

This little saw can cut 6" crown.

I have found this to be a good system for remote work where portability is important. I’m sharing it, in case someone finds value in this idea.

Can surely put those boxes to good use: tool stand, mini bench, saw horse, and portable storage... That Husky box looks like it was made for Your Hitachi saw..

Thanks for the comments. I mentioned it to WilltheEngineer in another thread a few days ago so I figured I'd share a pic of what I was talking about for him to see.

My other box has a JC-10, a bunch of guns, and the tray is full of nails, brads, staples, etc. to go with the guns. The tray is large and strong. It can handle the 50#, or so, of steel fasteners. The box is really heavy with all of that stuff but it has wheels and the handle pulls out to make for fairly easy carrying. It's all I can do to lift it onto the truck, though.

It's nice to roll into a job with one box and have a bunch of nailers, fasteners, hoses, cords, oil, etc. in one big kit. I can trim a house with those two boxes.

By the way, the quality of the boxes is excellent. I wanted the DeWalt Tough System rolling storage boxes but settled for these. Now I'm glad I got these because I've seen a few broken DeWalt boxes, plus the DeWalt boxes don't have the dados for holding a saw. The DeWalt is a bit bigger, though.

Oh yeah... these stack great and the lids are plenty strong enough to put 150# box on top of another box.
