I haven't used the 4 ton but I have some 2, 2.5 and 3. I have never had an issue with any of them. The 2.5 I have had for about 15 years and used them A LOT

Does anyone have any experience with the Craftsman 4-ton jack stands? I've read two posts about the 3-ton jack failing, but not much about the 4-ton. How's the stability, quality of the welds, etc?

:see:

I have had them for about 8 years now, have served me very well.

Agreed, I've got a pair or two and my boss has probably 3 sets at the shop. Not bad, nothing special though. I'd rock 'em for $30 without a second thought.

The 4 ton jacks are the best jack in there price range (usually $25 on sale)
The 4 ton jacks are nice bc they use a counter paw system for the jacks so when they have weight on them it is extremely difficult to push the lever to lower the jack stand.

The 3 ton stands I won't touch from the reviews I have read, but I also think they DO NOT have the counter paw as the 4 ton stands do.

Only complaint is the yellow paint on the 4 ton stands do flake off easily.
I have two sets of the 4 tons for two years now and have been extremely happy with them.

I vaguely recall a post or review comment about some Craftsman jacks having a "combined" weight (2 jacks together) versus "individual" weight. Read the specs very, very closely before using them.

Yes correct it is combined weight for the pair.
