Thought this could be a cool thread for people to show off their custom made tool storage ideas, and where others could find inspiration to make something that fits their needs.
I'll start off with a screwdriver holder I made from some scrap angle iron I had hanging around. Wiha screwdrivers all have the same sized round plastic nub that the screwdriver shank is pressed into, so with the exception of those that have a hex bolster instead of the round plastic part of the handle, I was able to use one drill bit for most of it. They sit pretty securely too. This is just for my phillips and torx collection (two most used types).
I've been tempted to redo it with some rectangular/square tubing so that they would be even more secure. Plus I need to find a better holder for my flat head screwdrivers rather than sitting in a drawer where they're hard to find and taking up space I could use for other things...
Based on making the screwdriver holder, I made a prybar holder, but I just went ahead and used tubing instead of angle this time (and it worked really well, which is why I'm tempted to do a screwdriver holder out of tubing). This consists of a 6x2, 4x2, and 2x2 rectangular and square steel tubing. All material was 11 gauge (only thickness I could get in all three sizes- didn't want to weld materials of different thickness to each other). If you have the money, aluminum would be way better (this steel one weighs over 20lbs without any tools it, kinda heavy!).
Then with some nice Milwaukee hole saws and Norseman drill bits, I drilled it out, deburred the holes, drilled some holes to mount it to the toolbox, and added two hooks I bent out of some flat steel pieces I had around. That way it is bolted into the toolbox and doesn't flop around, but the sheet metal of the box isn't supporting the weight, and instead the top corner of the box is.
This prybar holder worked out very well. Very happy with it!
Let's see what you've got!
