So, i've got 3 or 4 grease guns that just sort of hang on nails. As of late they're dripping and leaving a mess on my floor.

Do you guys store them empty? Do you have a method to prevent the dripping, or do i just need to stop being a sissy and clean the floor more often?

I wipe down after use, and keep mine in a contractor bag. It likes to leghump my other tools if loose in the truck.

If your #2 grease likes to separate then you might want an end cap on your pvc or go caveman and cut off a prestone jug, and screw the body of that to the wall and drop the works in there.

When I get to that point I will be doing something. I hate walking by and having the rubber hose with a gob grease leap out and bite me like a copperhead. oK maybe I'm exaggerating but I'm one of those guys that attract grease, dirt and oil even when I'm not into a project.

Bought a couple of cheap clamps designed to hang grease guns from Farm and Fleet. Only cost a couple of bucks each.

To capture drips and runs, I cut the top off a couple of one quart oil jugs and screwed them to the wall under the grease guns.

Looks fine in the shop.

I have two or three and I store then in a plastic tub, with a lid attached. Also keep my funnels in the same tub to keep the dirt off them.

Jepper,
How did you glue the small (1/2?) PVC to the large main tube?

well all be darned...that's far better than my "wrap it in a bag and slide it under the tool chest" method!

Add grease gun holder to the new shop build list...

I did mine cause it was easy and didn't take up more footprint but I can really see a concept with a 5 gallon bucket or a kitty litter one as being as simple as it could get. Where a guy isn't greasing like a bat out of hell the tote with the lid idea is a good one too. Throw an old work shirt or towel in, as the man said good for funnels too.

Just some regular pvc cement. Just have to hold it together while the glue sets.

For the record, this wasn't my idea. It was posted by someone else here on GJ years before I made one.

Mine are on spring clamps on tractors and in back of my truck.
Slip empty 20guage shells over the tips to keep them clean.
Ones in the shop hang on the trash can.

Re: Home Depot Clearance Thread 2015

Here's mine. The holes in the front are for the screwdriver bit. The bottom caps are not glues on so that they can be cleaned out. And I used a strip of PVC to space the pipes out enough to allow the bottom caps to slide on and off.

Those are good ideas. I think I'll adopt one of the PVC-tube ideas and mount it to the side of a cabinet, so I don't take any additional wall space. To the poster who asked about how to mount the small tube on the side - you could always hose-clamp it on there. Glue it and hose-clamp it while the glue dries, then remove the hose clamp for re-use!

This is possibly the best idea I have ever seen. Thank you for posting. I will be using your idea soon. I have about 10 guns of different sizes and configurations.

Several other threads.

I knocked this one up for my dads workshop and his old ford branded gun which he must of had 50yrs plus.
he wanted also use it on wall for dispensing grease.
used scrap lying about, gas heater chimney clamp resized (nice rubber inner lining), old plastic hose tidy clip from a car and piece of Sapele left from window frame refinishing.
End result is nice and tidy and easy use/remove ...

I fold a paper towel and rubber-band it on the nozzle. I strap the hose to the body with a Velcro tie and just lay the thing on a shelf. At this point I don't have a single grease fitting on the place but I'm getting a small riding mower soon so it probably has some.

Magnetic paper towel holders from Menard's and 3" PVC. Holds strong and I can put them different places if need be. Last one is just a regular grease gun holder I bolted to my cart. Makes it nice to have them on hand at my box. I keep them there so no one else uses them. I hate using a grease gun that is coated in grease.

Now I just have to work on something for my DeWalt 18v gun. Takes up too much room in my box.
