This thread is to help out our Secret Santa for potential gifts. It is not necessarily a gift list, but more idea provoking and helpful hints for your Santa.
Sometimes I have found it difficulty to find information on a person, depending on what threads he/she post on.
Let the good times roll!

Edit: Here is a link to last years thread

Thanks Outlaw!

Thanks for starting this thread this year! Can't wait to see who I get this year for SS....hopefully they reply in this thread and give me a few clues!! I'm grateful for whatever I receive, but here are a few of my interest....

Camaro's, Notre Dame football, Oakland A's baseball, Oakland Raiders football, tool/auto/beer stickers/decals, any Made in USA Craftsman tools, NOS Channellocks in pouches, Bosch 18V power tools, Snap On Green tools and anything that will help me show my Camaro's as I do car shows (well I used to before I had kids!!!)

I remember what I have received the past few years doing this and have been putting things aside all year for my SS recipient.:rocker:

I don't wear hats. If you get me a hat I will not wear it.
I also don't drink coffee or alcohol. I also don't want stuff with naked women on them. Not that I have a problem with naked women persey, I just don't want them on my stuff.

I have been doing auto body for over twenty five years, I have pretty much every tool I could ever NEED. Now want is another story. I get into the "Oooh that is neat" or " Oh that is helpful. " Gimmick tools and gizmo tools. Just fancy tools that make any given job just a bit easier. Ohhhh Ahhhh factor gets big points.

I am a die hard Baltimore Ravens fan. I collect vintage milk bottles. I love food. Anything with the yellow smiley face will make me smile as well.

Edit: I have no problem with used tools.

I think part of the fun is to be surprised and grateful for what ever you receive. That's the whole point of it being a secret.:3gears:

Come on guys, post up in here if you are participating in the GJ Secret Santa and help your fellow GJ'er out. I would hate to get something for someone and they never use it or hate it.

If you can't tell yet I'm a welder. I love different stickers to put on my truck/ toolboxes. I'm a sucker for vintage tools and new tools alike. I wear a medium shirt. I don't mind hats at all and wear one every day. A few other things is I love Jerky, but don't do well with spicy stuff. I also used to collect diecast construction equipment but I still look for older Bobcat models.I also dabble in automotive 12v, specifically emergency lighting.
Just bought a 2014 Toyota Tundra and will be plowing this winter!

I'm currently building on these tools
Knipex Pliers
Dewalt 20v
Wright wrenches
SK sockets
Klein electricians tools
Wera screwdrivers and hex tools

Other interests:
Any quality USA tools
Knives (USA)
Stihl
Firearms

I'm not a sports guy and I'm not interested in stuff with women on it.

These are some things I can think of, but I'll be happy with anything! This is my first year and I'm excited to participate.

I am an automotive mechanic.

I love tools. Anything that is usable and decent quality. I am not a snob for any brand, I've got snap on to princess auto in my box! Cordless I have Milwaukee, and a Bosch work radio. I love garage signs/clocks/memorabilia.

I love anything that is a quality consumable. Nice flash lights, nice knives, nice work pens, nice gloves, warm socks, etc. I wear a medium shirt, and a x-large hat.

I am from Canada, so there is a lot that I can't get up here! (I am eyeing you up, trusty cook!!). The Edmonton Oilers is my nhl team, but I am a closet Chicago Blackhawks fan.

I drink coffee, brew my own wine, and only ride skidoo!

I don't need any naked women, or anything political.

I am really looking forward to this!

So I'm more of a lurker the past year or so.... Reading for ideas. But I'm a union auto worker who is a car addict. Have an 84 Mustang thats completely different than it was from the factory. I'm still a beginner at welding but love it. My tool collection is all over the place brand wise. But I enjoy used old tools as much as new.

My 3 year old son loves hanging out on the garage with me while I work on stuff.

I wear an xl hat, xxl shirt....

This will be my 4th time in on this great annual event. I'm a 4x4 truck fanatic specifically anything that wears the Toyota badge. Really into FJ40'S and the first and second generation 4x4 pickups.

I'm also into welding and metal fabrication. I wear hats, and a 2xl shirt. Also like things that are homemade. Give what u can.

Hi I'm Al and I like long walks on the beach, candlelight ----- OH WAIT! Wrong forum.

I have a fetish with '68 Cougars and all vintage Ford muscle cars really. But probably what I would enjoy the most is being able to remove radiator hoses etc. without cutting them. Or having an extension or 2 to use with my Snap On 1/2" ratchets.

I hope I haven't been too vague. :dunno:

I know I don't post a bunch about what I like, so going through my previous posts won't be a ton of help, so I thought I'd post up some of my likes. Fortunately they're nice and broad, so hopefully my secret santa can find something that they think would be a good gift.

I've been hunting for a while for a depression/vaseline glass candy dish. Something a decent size that I can fit more than a handful of candy in. I don't know what exactly you might call it, but it's the glass that glows under UV light because it has uranium in it, the green depression glass is my favorite, as green is my favorite color.

I'm also kind of sort of in the middle of collecting playing cards, but not your normal ones, the more extreme and bizarre ones, mainly ones that can be found in magic shops and what not, but only, and very specifically, cards made by the United States Playing Card Company, mainly their Bicycle Brand, but their other brands would be cool too. Google Utopia, Spectrum, or The White Rabbit for design ideas, just to show that I collect stuff other than your normal run of the mill cards.

I'm also big into guns, you could get me a few parts to help convince me I need to build an AR-15 if you so desired. I don't have any roll pin punches, roll pin holders, normal pin punches or normal pin punch holders if you wanted to get tools instead of a lower parts kit, or a handguard or something like that.

You could get me Funko Pop Bobble heads or their vinyl figures, Original Star Wars (Not the new stuff), Powers Rangers especially, Nightmare Before Christmas, Firefly, Ghostbusters, Deadpool, other things like that.

I'll edit with more stuff when I think about it, however this list is not definitive, and if you're my secret santa and you find something, use your gut, it's your gift, you decide, I just though I'd try and give some ideas. Surprise me, if it's not on the list I gave, then even cooler, it's the thought that counts.

ETA: No idea how I totally forgot about this, but I could use a 1/2" ratchet, or some 3/8" or 1/2" non-wobble impact extensions. Maybe that set of 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" Gearwrench 120xp ratchets, unless my secret santa wants to spring for a higher quality 1/2" ratchet.

However, the original point remains, it's the thought that counts, and no matter what I get, this will be a blast, and I can't wait to start shopping for the person I get to buy something for.

I'm always up for surprises, which I think is an awesome element about the GJSS, and as others have said, its all about the fun of it and not about what I get.

With that said, to make things a bit easier on my SS, I figured, I too would post some tips.

Love vintage tools - Klein, Snap-On, Wright, etc.

Love tool swag, though not a big fan of hats. If your thinking of a shirt, a women's L~XL or men's L work great.

As some may know, love restoring tools, am working on my airframe & powerplant cert, so anything aviation maintenance related is awesome also am a welder, though primarily for hobby these days.

At my core, I'm just a girl that loves tools and can never have too many!

I haven't posted much lately due to being super busy with kids sports this past season.
With that said, I love those giant rubberized style twist ties to tie up extension cords or hoses. I am a Ford Mustang guy (own 3) and a Mercedes AMG guy (own 1).
I like hats and I like hats with beer bottle openers on them as I have 3. :)
I like light beers to stock the fridge.
I like garage signs and if I could find one, I'd love the street sign "vehicle noise laws enforced"
I'm a t shirt guy of the XL size
I'm a road biker, MTn biker and fat biker
I have 2 olde English bulledogges
And I like getting anything so use your imagination!

I too really look forward to GJSS every year. I work for a major shipping company (think brown) and Christmas time is crazy busy. That kinda makes you see Christmas differently. But getting my gift, then waiting to open it makes my season. I'm grateful for anything I receive. I'm and industrial electrician/HVAC tech and really don't need anymore tools. I like fabrication, drinking beer, blues music (I play the drums), pleasure boating, being outside, and finally I'm a ford guy. Thanks for letting us have fun with this!

I don't have a lot on my list this year, so please feel free to be creative! If you're completely stuck, I bought a Suzuki TU250X motorcycle this year and any tools or accessories related to this would be very much appreciated.

Some other hobbies include 3d printing, metal working, and coffee roasting.

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Fur is nice... Sable is in this year. Diamonds are a girls best friend. I hear Lamborghini has a new color out this year, goes well with Snap-on Green tool ****. ... Someone mention Cigarette boats, or was that just a 54'+ yacht? Or perhaps something in the way of a Super Viking... or maybe just a Stearman... I can hold a Lear rather dear... Now, I'm not asking for TOO much, am I?

OK, serious... Here's an IDEA list, if you can't think of something awesome off the top of your head (and don't want to take the bait above... heh heh heh...)... seriously, I would think ANYTHING from one of y'all would be totally awesome. But I know trying to figure out a cool gift can be tough. So... if you are really stuck for something... which here would blow me away if you were...

Anything old or antiquey (especially tools or books), I'm into motorcycles and old cars (and yes, airplanes) and especially military surplus. Serious beans. Living in the forest, I'm also drawn to old woodcutter stuff, LOVE good shop books (especially OLD ones)... and finally (if you didn't already guess) I have a forge, so anything related to pounding or forming or casting hot metal is VERY cool...

Sportswise, or I should say, Football-wise, I'm a diehard Silver and Black Mack Attack kinda girl (all those years in Oakland, living above the Stadium, I guess), or if we're talking college ball, we are a multi-generational Longhorns Family. :D

Bottom line - ANYTHING would blow me away, because surprise is the best part of this whole thing!!!!

(Tho, ya know, technically a Ferrari *is* a "pony car"... :D :3gears: )

I like old Chevrolets and have an '87 half ton pickup.
My first car was a '67 Caprice, someday to be restored if it hasn't rusted into oblivion by the time I can retrieve it from out of state.
In recent years I've gotten into the hobby machinist stuff and am interested in 7.5" gauge (1.5" to the foot) model railroads.
I have recently obtained a stick welder and will be teaching myself how to do that.
I like messing with electronics... arduino projects, etc.
I wear XXL tshirts.
I like quality tools.
I would love some kind of autobahn sign or german road/industrial/road signs. Honeymoon'd there this year and enjoyed the heck out of it.

I'll appreciate anything you think I'd like. :)

Here is another member who doesn't post much. It took me a couple of years to gather enough to play in the SS game but have had so much fun with it the past 2 times. I can't wait till I get my name so I can start stalking them and trying to come up with a great gift, that's the best part after all.

I'm getting off track so let me refocus... I'm a Hyster shop tech and am very lucky to have pretty much everything I need tool wise (won't stop me from getting more though ;) I'll be happy to add anything you think is cool and worthwhile to my collection.

What I want from my SS is something from you. Please share something you've made and are proud of or something from your town. There is a good chance I'll send some Old Bay seasoning to whoever I get. I'd love a conversation piece to hang on the wall like an old sign, drawing, art, blueprints or display on a shelf. If you are the type who needs something specific to focus on my small picks should be freshened up and I've been thinking of picking up another stubby 3/8s ratchet recently. Not really loyal to any brand, you'll find everything from Husky to S.O. in the box. I do love to eat so if you have a local spice, seasoning or sauce that taste great then feel free to send it my way along with a favorite recipe. Spicy is good but not so much a fan of hot. Really I'll be grateful for anything so just have a bit of fun with this like I plan to do. xmas

Once again a big thanks goes out to the guys for setting this up. It really is becoming one of the highlights of the holidays for me.

I really don't have a clue about a good SS gift. I already have all of the tools I need and honestly no room for more in any case. But still my shop is the center of my little universe so maybe some sort of man cave stuff. I'm definitely in to boats and ships so anything sea related. I have some wall space but not too much. My shop is mainly wood orientated. But also several antique restoration projects lying around. Cars are not really my thing but other mechanical or electrical things are.

Whoever gets my name in SS I'll enjoy anything. I figure if my SS thinks it's cool I'll probably think it's cool too. Up for anything. If they need specific ideas I could use hose pinch off pliers, metric deep sockets, bearing packer, markers or paint pens, gloves(xl). These are just ideas not really a specific list. Really anything would be appreciated and used.

I wear xxl shirt and have a very large head for hats I like xl flex fit if possible. I smoke cigars while playing poker and any alcohol will be enjoyed. I am a Cleveland Browns season ticket holder since 99' now you know why I drink!:lol_hitti

I do a lot of different types of projects in my shops mainly metal but wood when I have to , I refurb and flip old machines and hand tools for fun and truck money :} , I have recently in the last 2 years or so decided to go all the way back in my metal career and put together some blacksmithing gear which is lol different then regular metal fabrication stuff . I GLAMP :} IE RV camp and have everything major equipment wise there maybe some really useful gadgets that I don't know about might be out there. So anything that might help in tear down machines / tools or blacksmithing tools yes I have anvil and hammers etc .

I have never participated before, but I like this idea. I am not one to turn down useful information.

I am renovating my house. I like firearms. I like airplanes and am working on getting my pilot's license. I am an engineer (if that wasn't obvious).

Brands that I favor include

Estwing
Dewalt 20v
Hitachi air tools
Klein
Winchester
Stihl
Greenlee
Milwaukee

and usually anything else that works as it was designed. I like Made in the USA even if it is old, but can't justify the expense of Snap-on.

I'll start this post by saying that I will be entirely thankful for whatever my Secret Santa decides to get me, but here's a little bit about myself.

As just about all of us do, I love tools. To be honest, I have most of my tool needs met. Anything else I need is too need specific (and too expensive!) I've been slwoly building my Milwaukee cordless collection this year. I have both the M12 and M18 drill/driver combo, and I know they have a bunch of cool various add-ons for that line, but I haven't really explored too much.

I love to snowboard in the winter, and am out on my mountain bike the rest of the year. One thing I've been trying to expand is my tool lineup for working on the bike. Don't have much right now to be honest besides the bike repair stand, pedal wrench, derailer hanger alignment gauge, and chain stretch gauge. I'm going to be doing a 1x11 conversion this winter, and a park tool chain whip for swapping out the rear cassette is next on my list to buy. Maybe a set of brushes for cleaning the bike too. I ride a Giant 27.5" full suspension, if you by chance happen to be a rider as well and are curious!

Finally, and most importantly, my wife and I are expecting a baby girl (our first child) this march, so I'll be entering fatherhood. We are in the process of getting the nursery together now. I'm actually in the middle of refinishing a changing table as I type this!

I see a lot of people also specify their shirt size as well, so I wear a large. I also am not much of a drinker, so no booze.

But, as I said before, I will love and appreciate whatever I receive. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

I don't post very much on here so hopefully this will help out my secret santa.

First of all, if you draw my name please don't stress over what to get. This is just a fun thing to do and I would rather a surprise than make a list of exactly what I want. With that being said, here are a few guidelines.

I don't drink coffee or wear hats.
I have most basic tools taken care of (screwdrivers/wrenches/sockets/ratchets)
I have mostly Klein and Craftsman USA tools
Interested in old/vintage signs/license plates/memorabilia
I could use ball peen hammers
I love BBQ/Smoking on my Big Green Egg. Local sauces/rubs are always fun.
I am a bourbon drinker
I work on/restore/ride early 80's Honda ATC Three Wheelers and also own and work on dirt bikes
I do some woodworking and am getting interested in hand planes. I don't have any yet, but am looking for something in decent shape to restore and use
I am an LSU and Saints fan
