Anyone try these yet? I got a set about a month ago and have been holding judgement upon more use. They are the smoothest ratcheting wrench I've ever felt! They also have the claim as the thinnest and smallest head on the market as well. I've always had the snap on ratcheting wrenches and wasn't too impressed, as they would always freeze up then you'd have to wack it on the table for it to free up! The new design is a home run IMO!! upgrade in every way possible!!

Do you guys oil and/or grease ratcheting wrenches as you would a ratchet?

Any pics of the internals of a ratcheting wrench?

They are very expensive, but I don't see an equivalent or equal on the market right now! The difference with these wrenches often times meaning able to use ratcheting vs not able to fit other ratcheting wrenches.

I never had to oil any other than the old snap on designed ones. Which is odd considering the bluepoints have a very similar ratcheting head, and I've never had a problem with them sticking.

They are expensive, but very nice, smooth as butter. the original Taiwan gearwrenches were okay, but the newer china ones are so fat I cannot get them into tight spots. I plan on buying the snappys. Might just buy the few most used sizes instead of springing for full set.

Do they make flex head reversible? An XXL DBE combo FD fixed/flex reversible would probably be the best wrench ever made.

From some reasrch digging around -- These wrenches are now XL combos, so they don't duplicate your standard combo length according to the spec sheet.

I am generally anti-SnapOn but these look awesome. Can anyone provide part numbers for metric & fractional sets? Searching by keyword at their site didn't get me anywhere.

I believe this is the old style?

I've had mine for 3 to 4 months now and overall, they aren't bad save for one quirk. I've noticed that for the 14mm and under sizes, they tend to stick in a lopsided way when a little higher than usual force is applied to them. It goes away after a bit but in can be pretty annoying when fastening or unfastening a nut or bolt that isn't all that loose but catches due to the sticking. I never had that issue with the older versions. Also the ratcheting mechanisms for the 11 and 10mms seem to bit on the tight side.

Hmm, do you mean because the head is so thin it doesn't stay square to the fastener?

Or do you mean it starts to try to round like on a lugnut and you have to reverse it to "untwist" it?

From Snappy I'd expect better than Gearwrench phone-it-in sizing on sets.

On the 8mm and 5/16 sizes seems they still have the previous versions for sale (SOEXR, SOEXRM). That might just be a phase-in of production runs, or it might be admitting the new shape isn't ideal for the smaller sizes. :dunno:

As you point out they are both essential sizes.

Nah, more like it's feels similar to a warped brake rotor except it goes away after a while. It's as if the lubricant solidifies in one particular area.

not curious enough to click one of the links, apparently :lol_hitti

I'll tell anyone not curious enough to click on the links that you should get the 7 piece SAE set over the 10 piece Metric set.

The SAE set will only run you $49.66 per wrench instead of the $50 per wrench for metric.
Now there's a deal. :shocking:

The metric starts at 11? Please tell me there's a 10, one of the most common sizes on the planet.

 whats with all the concern?

1) 10-19mm Metric sets and 9.5-19mm SAE (3/8-3/4in) sets are standard sets
2) The piece count is a function of SAE vs Metric size intervals
3) There is no discount for volume, you pay by the pieces
4) not sure any of 1-3 qualifies as news?

If anyone is legit confused by this stuff (1-4) I'd be suprised myself.

If you have money burning hole in your pocket, just call the 1800 number and they will probably get you whatever sizes you need. For the most part snap on is a custom shop. You buy what you need, in any combination of sizes for the same discount (none)

commence the usual flame war.

Wish it was 6 point instead of 12. $500 for the set is too pricey for me. Have to wait for a used set to show up in CL or flee market.

I wish I hadn't seen this thread. A smaller headed set of ratcheting wrenches is truly tempting, but ~$50/ratchet is hard to stomach.

Love my Protos. Full disclosure; I have NO experience with the new Snappys and probably never will, cant believe they don't offer them in complete sets. Who does Snappy think is their customer?
I can tell you that if you are a professional mechanic a full set of Protos will serve you well. Plus all you have to do is point and click, no wasted time assembling a set while asking yourself if it's really worth another $50.

Unless you own the older Snap-On or Blue-Point versions these new SOXRR Snap-Ons really aren't much smaller, they merely made them on par with what Taiwan as been producing for over a decade. They are indeed a nice product but there is a little dose of Koolaid going on in this thread with claims like 'these fit where nothing else will'.

TBH these weren't as expensive as I thought they would be. If the ratcheting mechanism in these is as smooth as SO Dual 80 ratchets and the profile is thinner than their previous ratcheting wrenches and coupled with Flank drive open ends, there certainly is a market for them.

I personally am a huge fan of the Dual 80 ratchets but all my ratcheting wrenches are Gearwrench. Not a mechanic by trade so GW works fine for me but I have worked in a large tire and automotive service shop for 15+ years and one of the tools every automotive mechanic I've every known values and uses most is his metric ratcheting wrenches.

As for me I buy SO tools on a no interest truck account and limit myself to $500. Someday soon after I acquire the last couple ratchets I want, i could see myself picking up a set of these. If I ever step on the truck and he's got a BOGO on the metric and SAE set I will buy then fo sho.

The metric and standard sets are linked in the few posts before yours. Like everything else snap On, they are super affordable if you are super rich.

Here you go.

7 pc std
https://store.snapon.com/Ratcheting...e-Ratchet-Combination-Wrench-Set-P888283.aspx
SOXRR707
347.65 USD

10 pc metric
https://store.snapon.com/Ratcheting...Drive-reg-Combination-Wrench-Set-P888289.aspx
SOXRRM710
500.00 USD

I put in the prices and part numbers for posterity. Snap On raises prices from time to time.
