Dewalt set exact the same style that i bought for 29.99.. cant beat the deal and their quality pretty decent. Snap On is wayyyyy over-rated

Wow! Those look nice!

At that price I can't see me ever owning a 'set', but if they are as good as a duel 80 ratchet I can see myself picking up a couple in the popular sizes!

Box end diameter seems to beat my Facom's by approx 1mm in diameter for 13/17/19mm sizes. For example Facom 13mm =25mm diameter. Snap On 13mm = 24mm

Forgot to measure my Toptul flex rat. wrenches for comparison.

Best I have ever had is all I can say for the new snap on soxrrm710 but only comparing to my blue point ratcheting wrenches that are maybe 20+ years old. Very expensive and overkill for my needs but very nice.

The only thing I hated about the old ones was the lever. Looks like they improved on that a lot

i wasnt going to say anything and make him feel stupid.

Unlike so much on the internet I try my best to talk from experience and fact. I've certainly been wrong on things before but generally when I say something I try to be accurate. Now that said, do these look like the same length to you?

I hope these ****. I still have not had a chance to try these yet.

I want to say I will wait til I need them, but when I would need them then, I won't have them. I have the previous set in metric and they are great. The open ends are just about as good as a box end or a socket. They really bite in, painted fasteners will look mucked up a little with bite marks. Rusted fasteners and even semi rounded fasteners, if you can get the teeth to bite, it will hold. I have sheared some frozen bolts with them, where some other wrenches would have just rounded the bolt head.

I break free with the open end and then ratchet with the box end. These were great for that, although I always thought the ratcheting end could be better. I actually prefer my craftsman ratchet wrenche box ends to the FD+. Maybe these are the best of both worlds, with a better open end and a better box end. The craftsman open end will open when pushed hard. I love the long double box wrenches, but they can be too long.

Is the open end flank drive?
NVM I found them, and the answer is yes.

And it looks like they only come that way, which is a bit of a bummer for me because I don't particularly like FD. None of us in the shop do.

That said, I have not gotten into the habit of using ratcheting wrenches so it's not like I need to buy them anyway. But if I do change my mind, I suspect I'll look for a smooth-jaw alternative.

I agree with you on your FD point. I work on motorcycles a lot and the "flank Drive, Wrightgrip" whatever styles can leave marks on fasteners so they're a no go for me...

I am going to be checking some of these wrenches out in the next few weeks, as for the flank drive, I also own a nice non flank drive 6 point combo set for fancy fasteners.

Well I really appreciate reversible ratcheting wrenches and wanted to try these so just ordered the metric set.

Ironically I just got a HF 30" cart and decided I "needed" wrenches just for the cart so it would seem I "need" a single set of wrenches at $375 (eBay, new) for a $189 cart. Things that make you go hmmm

Also Snappy does offer a 6mm and 8mm as SOXRRM6 / 8, but those two combined would set ya back nearly another $100 ;)

I received my fractional ones yesterday. Initial impressions:
-on average across the set very low backdrag
-the reversing lever is so small and recessed it's difficult to operate even when you want to
-the reversing lever is happy to hang out in limbo, it doesn't snap to one side or the other
-some are nearly silent in one direction while audibly clicking in the other direction, on the same wrench. I imagine this will even out with use

Overall they're incredibly nice and I'm not disappointed.

I am a little concerned about the reversing lever - Snappy went from huge, bulky levers on the old (Williams?) wrenches to tiny, recessed ones now. Pretty sure they hired the Ford modular motors design team that went from spark plugs that wouldn't stay in to spark plugs that wouldn't come out, ie wild swings from one extreme to the other.

I got the metric set last year and love them compared to my old Gearwrench set. I have the old SO set with the black switch and some kept jamming where the switch turned itself to the center while wrenching, some even fell off. No matter, I bought those used so the new set are my go to now.

I got a lone 8mm today and the 6mm is supposed to be in transit.

I know, I know, you're all jealous of my shop rags....

I have a 7mm on my wish list. I have 8-19 skipping 9 which is also on my wish list. What do you do with 6mm?

Um...this is GJ. It's like action figures - "collect them all!"

I figure it's better than collecting commemorative plates or coins.....

Bicycle disc brake bleeder screws, can't imagine needing that good a wrench for the job but I have one on the bicycle tool board for just that reason.

Does anyone have both these and the new SK ratcheting combo wrenches? I wonder how they compare.

The SKs cost about half as much; are they at least half as good?

I purchase 2 dual80 ratcheting wrenches to try on at work. I service conveyor systems. After about a month, the selector switch broke off inside. It looks to be a very week design. I purchased them online so I will stop at the next SO truck in my neighborhood. I hope it was just a fluke. The wrench is a pleasure to use but if it doesn’t last it is garbage.

I will say...some of the sizes are nearly silent.

I remember once reading in a discussion here about gearless ratchets (of which these are not of course) that the lack of sound FEEDBACK could be more significant than one might think.

It hasn't been a problem thus far but I'm going to keep an eye -- er, ear perhaps -- on this aspect

The advantage to these compared to the old ones is they are reparable. Call Snap-On if you can’t locate a truck. They should send you a repair kit.

Keep us updated though. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

I called SO and asked for a repair kit for my broken 9/16. They said that there is no repair kit available. They sent me a new wrench and didn’t even make me return the old one. I hope this one lasts longer. That’s some amazing customer service. I guess that’s why you pay $50 for a wrench.
