Tips & Tricks 101 Felo Screwdrivers.

Sure we have talked about Felo Tools before but I thought for tonight you might like an update to this screwdriver in question. It would seem that Felo is the new kid on the block as it was founded in 1950 in Neustadt Germany.

It has an interesting patent by the way for their handle US pat. # 7,877,843 by inventor Martin Holland-Letz (be sure and see the links to follow). All I can tell you is beside the crazy like handle shape it can bend if you use both hands, kind of wild I think. Seems like the inside has many layers giving way to his patent for a new system for a screwdriver that we all use everyday.

The Good.

The handle has a better fit at least for my arthritic hands, not the best but not the worst, just in between or ok in my book. It has a very nice fit and finish and it holds the screws well in place. They have a nut like collar that is great for using a wrench and if that is not enough they each have a hole designed for more twisting power by using another screwdriver for more leverage. It has some flat design built into it so they will not roll to far away and they have easy markings for you to read. The price is not very expensive so that is a big plus in my book.


The Bad.

I am afraid for some of you with ocd cleaning the handle is not that easy so you don't even want to go there. Using any harsh cleaning fluid, carb spray, brake fluid, etc. then all the white letters will come off. (I call it silk screen printing, but I have no clue what they call it ?). Not sure how long before cam out but with a 15 year warranty I am sure they will hold up just fine.


So if you are wanting to try something special this tip is for you, just pick up a few of them on sale and try them out, nothing ventured nothing gained or something along those lines.

I did just that. I needed a dedicated square tip for frequent use doing electrical work. Since my bag is full of Klein and a few "beater types", I wanted something different that would be easy to find in the bottom of the bag. Picked up a black and red handled Felo, online after reading some of the hype posted on GJ.

I've used it for a couple if years now and really like it. The handle is decent, but the tip is superb and has held up well. Shaft is highly polished. I would own more of them if not for my Proto Durateks. I just purchased a Felo T-handle magnetic bit holder for those times when you need to really get "on" a stubborn screw.

Woody, remember The Anderson's? I picked up a 6 piece set there on clearance years ago for like $15. The handles are definitely different than any other drivers I have. They are comfortable.

Do you like the squishy handle on the linked Felos? I do like their hex shaped blades.

I have a few but, prefer their hard handle versions.

It's looking like they were victimized by the plastic burrowing termites.

I like the squishy handles. Another big plus is that Felo is priced reasonably.
