I have a fascination with these. I think they facilitate the whole process of collecting. You've got an outline of every tool in a certain line that a company offered, and you need to track down an example of each to fill the board. It appeals to me, much as collecting comic books appealed to me as a kid. Plus, an official tool display board hanging on the wall of your garage, full of tools, just seems bitchin'!

I have not seen a thread about this before. Anyone have any to post up pics of?

"Post your tool display boards"??

Bull.... You have a problem! Its a good problem. But its a problem.

Come on, Neal...you know those boards are cool! Especially the vintage ones. A gal came in here a few weeks ago with questions about a Walden one, then she disappeared.

And yes, you are right, I do have a problem!

I have one that is still rolled up and never was mounted to a board... Like a poster. Even came with all the attachments... It looks like it is from the 70's... I don't think I have the heart to put it on a board and use it.... I will post some pics of it tomorrow.

This is an outrage! Where are all the tool display boards? Surely, my fellow garage and tool junkies are people who would like and own these things. How much cooler does it get than a vintage, original tool display board from your favorite company, chock full of the appropriate tools?!

I will try to get a pic(s) tonight.

There is a Barcalo 4 sided display that I think was meant to swivel on its base.

Also have I think 3 modern type cheapy Proto? Easco? peg board tool boards, if I can find them.

PM a reminder tomorrow, if I don't get them posted tonight.

Link to some Plomb boards on the internet:

I hate to admit it cause you guys know how I don't post pics, but I have 3 Indestro tool display boards that look almost the same as those pictured. However, I do not have all the Indestro tools to fill the pins. My boards were never used.

Could not find the Barcalo..................could take me days to find it.

Here are the plastic peg board examples I found (a 69 Charger and 69 Dodge pickup were used as backstops, what did you expect from a MOPARHOUND! :bounce: ) :

Yup, I just have not bought one yet, and I cannot borrow the daughters.

Hell, I will likely never get one, if I bought a camera then I would have to pass on some tools or other such toy I want that much more to buy the camera! :lol_hitti

Buck, how old is your computer? Do you have USB ports to hook a camera cord into?

I might have a camera for you, no charge. It is a small, older Nikon Coolpix 3200. 3.2 Megapixel. 128MB memory card included. Nothing special, but last time I checked, it still worked. It is technically my wife's so let me just clear the donation with her. Shouldn't be an issue. I was going to make it my garage camera, but might not need it after all.

BUT, if you get it, I am going to need pics of these tool boards of yours AND that damn Chevelle! :lol_hitti

New guy here...pardon the intrusion.

Found a couple cool Indestro display boards at a junk shop last week...under twenty bucks for the pair. Don't know how old they are but they don't seem to have seen any use.

Rob...who didn't know he was a wrench collector until he cleaned his workshop.

One of my puller sets is on a wall mounted tool board in a case. It is nice to be able to just look at the board and see if anything is missing:thumbup:

This is the closest thing I have to one that I use. It is home made from a cabinet that originally came from an ambulance; it was headed to the trash until I latched onto it and re-purposed it for a puller cabinet.

That's a great idea and a very clean looking cabinet, Buck!

Are you ever tempted to draw black outlines around each tool?

Found the 4 sided wooden tool board. It is actually a Barcalo/S-K tool board(s). It has holes in the top and bottom presumably for a manual mechanism to allow the tool display to rotate as a counter display. It is also missing the metal hanger thingies, and got a little nicked up during shipping years ago.

Interesting, the 2 Barcalo sides are for all wrenches, and the 2 S-K sides are for sockets and socket drive tools. Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing Barcalo ratchets or sockets. S-K's main business in the early days was sockets and drive tools, until their merger with the Lectrolite wrench company around 1950 or so.

Enjoy....

Hound, that one is great. I like how simple it is...almost homemade, using just plain old plywood. Very cool.

Finally, I can contribute to my own thread.

I just picked this up. I need to find some appropriate hardware to hang the tools on, then start hunting for each of the individual wrenches. This will be fun...I love tool boards!

If you see any that you aren't going to buy, and they aren't expensive, PM me the info!

I bought this one for $5.50 plus $11 shipping:bounce:

Wow. Yeah.. I probably do most of my searching at local markets, antique stores etc. $11 shipping definitely sounds reasonable though.
