Craftsman, Easco, K-D, Allen, RHFT ratchet kit chart

I have made a list of all the Round Head Fine Tooth(RHFT) ratchets with the knurled speeder on the bottom, and all the repair kits are interchangeable. I have tried a couple and they are the same. Some of the older craftsmans have a through post quick release design, and that is no longer in use, other wise kits are the same, still available from Sears, Danaher. Also some of the older Easco, K-D ratchets were non-quick release(NQR) and if you get a current rebuild then ratchet will now be quick release. I have seen rebuilds from K-D, Allen, Napa on line, if you cannot get a warranty from either Sears or Danaher. If there are other models that I don't have listed let me know, these ratchets have been in production for 40 years so there may be some odd balls out there. Also added a Ridgid, it is sold with a 960 roll groover to operate it, but is an Allen brand clone, and can be bought buy it self online or through Ridgid. Also another Ridgid sold with a 915 is a 1/2 long handle with a 90 degree bend on the end of the handle.

Does anyone know a good place to start looking for these kits? I have been searching for this 43436 for awhile now with no luck. My Sears didn't have any when I stopped awhile ago, but I didn't really press the issue. Everything I'm finding is outdated and no longer offered. Maybe I'm just terrible at searching...

I have something to add along these lines.
Bought this older Craftsman 1/4" rat last weekend, and it looked like a recent QR Husky I already had. Laying them side by side they looked REALLY close. And the innards interchange!

Both ratchet mechanisms are tighter in the Craftsman, but both work in both rats. I'm told Stanley made C-rats in the early 80's - and they now own Husky.


I'd bet the 3/8 and 1/2 will interchange as well. have another comparison to make soon - will post the results.

That looks like one of the Canadian Craftsman ratchets, made overseas. Had a 1/2" one that spun free, didn't know that it was a Canadian-sold job. Took it back to the store and they replaced it with the bottom-end 1/2" brushed-steel-looking job with a sort-of-tri-wing selector, no quick release. I don't see those around anymore...

FYI, the 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sizes are currently available at Cripe under the Allen part numbers, enjoy!

The Craftsman 943426 1/4" $8.97, 943436 3/8 $9.97, and 943446 1/2 $15.97 round-head, fine tooth quick-release repair kits are available at Summit (along with other ratchet repair kits) as a drop-ship from the manufacturer. (Axis tool group/Armstrong tools, as best I can tell.)

They are NOT available at my local Sears store.

Add Wilde to the list of companies that used the RHFT 1/4" and 3/8 action. They used Danaher RHFT ratchets in their 12000, 12001 and 12004 socket sets. The ratchets and socket sets pop up on ebay from time to time.
