I have a HF cabinet that I got on sale many years ago. I hate it.
I have to move it outside of my garage in order to use it because it leaks dust so much.
I've even caulked the insides. But to no avail.
I've never used any other blast cabinet.
How are these at keeping the dust inside?

I have the TP 960 and love it, however I could really use the extra 12" for doing fenders in house. To answer tig's question, I have the after filter on mine as a precaution and have never noticed any fugitive dust.

I went through that ****** orange plastic thing once a year...
This thing is a different world from those. If you keep up with the dust extractor, dust isn't an issue.

I have a 20 year old (or so) top load from TIP
I added a their dust collector and their foot pedal upgrade kit.
Squeezing the gun trigger gets old pretty quick
I also put in a cheap LED under cabinet light because a bare bulb in there just *****
The lights been in there 7 years and I use the cabinet alot...
Works great
Also if you're in the area of Youngstown OH go to their store. They also have a small car museum there which has some pretty nice stuff

I've had my TP cabinet for probably 20 years. I also have one of the vac units.
What I did find about dust getting outside the cabinet was three-fold. Maybe four-fold.
1. I have a tray that installs under the door opening and it catches a lot of dust/grit that would wind up on the floor.
2. I installed the interior blowgun to blow off the work piece prior to removing from the cabinet.
3. Waiting a moment before opening the door for the cabinet to clear.
4. I recently installed the filter that goes on the back over the air inlet. This was where some dust, etc was getting out

I bought my old man one of their 960-DLX cabinets as a gift a few years ago. He adores it, and would never use anything else. One upgrade that I cannot recommend enough, is to size up to one of their commercial dust collector options. You have to do this when ordering the cabinet, since the hose diameters are different and they modify the cabinet to take a larger flange before shipping it out, but it's absolutely worth it.
If he's still there, Jim at TP Tools has always been great to work with.

I also have the TP 960 with foot petal and interior blowgun. In an effort to keep the dust from getting into everything, I added their optional 180-DC Insider II HEPA Dust Collector and final filter. It does an amazing job of cleaning parts and the dust that escapes the cabinet is almost non-existent. They also make an abrasive reclaimer that goes between the blast cabinet and the filter. Unfortunately, I just don't have the room to add the reclaimer without totally relocating the cabinet and filter. Hopefully at some point, I'll get around to doing that. I've been doing business with TP Tools for over 15 years. They've been great to deal with and have provided great products at a fair price. I highly recommend checking them out if you're not already buying from them.

They were not able to confirm. Drove my car with no trailer. Go to their booth and they have a bunch of em. In the end, due to PA tax - buying direct and having it shipped is less than $100 more depending on model. In the end - glad they were not able to confirm:

He told me to come on over and bring my trailer - he was cleaning up his huge garage/bus shop and ended up giving me an older classic model. I went through it New gun, foot pedal, cyclone, better lighting and set it up on rollers to simply go outside when using it.
I will say that if you are buying new - spend the money and get a **** from TP.
I spent a few hundred on improving this old one and it works great. If my friend did not give me his old one - I would have one from TP.

Based on the reputation of the business owner, it was probably one of the last things he bought and didn't pay for
The Econoline does have one nice feature that none of the TP cabinets have. In addition to an end loading door, the entire top of the cabinet will open up and is counterweighted via springs for easy opening. That said, I've looked at a couple of the TP cabinets, and IMO they're a better value for the dollar than any other brand on the market.
I second the recommendation above for a pedal operated machine. Prior to the econoline, I had an old cabinet that I cobbled together using a trigger operated gun. Might not seem like much of a difference to someone who's never used one, but after 15-20 minutes of use, a trigger gun will have your hand and wrist cramped up like you're 110 years old.

Stuffing a piece of foam in the vent on the back of cabinet allows it to breathe, but without sending dust over half the shop.

I have a older trench cabinet and this is perfect place to ask I believe. what compressor is everyone running. I have a older 5hp 60 gal and it runs all the time. I also have a 7.5 hp husky 2 stage. Im looking at a emax 39 cfm at 90psi

I picked up my TP skat blast at Hershey years ago. I don't think you can do better for the money. I have a piece of towel held by magnets on the top of the cabinet. The towel protects the plexiglas window on the outside..there's always a lot of airborne stuff floating in the shop so nothing gets dragged across the surface when it needs cleaning. I also leave the 3 catches that hold the top closed unfastened when not in use, it keeps the pressure off the gasket. You guys are right about the interior light (or lack of it) I have a bunch of LED paddles that I'm going to install (it's only been about 12 or 13 years).
I constructed a filter/separator out of a plastic bucket and a HEPA shop vac filter. That connects to a little "Stinger" vacuum from HD. I went with the little vac because it was super cheap and I wasn't sure how long the bearings would last but I'm still on the original vac after all this time. The actual vac canister has the factory filter bag and the canister is essentially clean all the time. I wouldn't use a vac as small as the stinger again though, it is a little lacking on air volume but I sort of put up with it because I'm so cheap.
My DeVilbiss 2 stage 6 HP drives it fine and even catches up and shuts off while I'm blasting (sometimes I think it's about 16 CFM

Which blast cabinet is the best one of em all? Which one would require few (if any) modifications? I notice a lot of guys will add a light and a few other mods. Are there any that are nearly perfect out of the box?
