Hello guys!

I bought this small Snap on box from Rickster last week, and thought Id give you the before and after pics..Now, I dont want to put tools in it! Still working on getting a key made, Im gonna see the Snap on guy at work, hopefully he can get one for me, it has the number on front of the tumbler.

It was bead-blasted inside and out, then primered with zinc chromate primer. Then, I bead-blasted the drawer slides, and rust-proofed them with aviation grade AV-30 coating. The Paint is Jet-Glo Imron cranberry metallic. I polished the drawer handle and lock with Met-all aluminum/metal polish. I deleted the tag holder, it was too far gone with rust, maybe if I can find an old, small snappy emblem i can place it where the holes are. any leads on one of these would be appreciated.. Rickster if you are here, what is the history on the box?

Looks great. Is that aircraft paint or can anybody get their hands on it?

I dont know, I had the painters at work do it with some leftovers. It is branded "Jet-Glo", Im sure you can find some somewhere, I know many years ago, I painted my old Bronco with Dupont "Imron" and we just went out to an auto supply store, and ordered it..But that was in the 80's. Imron is dangerous stuff because it has isocyanates in it (cyanide).:shocking:

Looks great, I love Imron paint, I worked for a place that used to paint the frames of food packaging machine they built a metallic green Imron, people loved the color (pretty cool for industrial machines). You'll have to take a picture of that thing outside in the day light so we can really see the color.

Here's a link to my original post with pics of the contents from when I found this box at an Estate sale.

Wow, thats cool to know. Its also neato to me, to see tools/ boxes going between members here, and what they are being turned into and used for, when they change hands. I plan on using this at work, but I need to get some felt to put inside. LOVE the old tools and boxes that are no longer made, and thats a shame .Thanks Rickster.

Take the number of the lock and the lock if it is easy to get out and go to a Locksmith, he can make a key using the keycode number off the lock, around here it usally costs $5.00 bucks or so.

A lot of the Snap-on box locks are double sided and more costly. Check with a locksmith. The good thing is you can bring the box with you to the locskmiths.

He warranted me a brand new lock today, although I would have prefered to keep the original. I guess I can with the locksmith option, but I couldn't turn down a free one!
