EDIT: I'm surprised the PhotoBucket pics show up. I kcked them to the door! Here's a few updated pics of lift area. I finally installed the electric stairs. Now the set up doesn't look off centered.

Installed these in the space between the wall and the lift column.

The stairs are controlled by this winch motor. I can control from upstairs or the down stairs.

I now have access to the apartment from the outside and the inside.

PurdueSP, how high is the ceiling in your garage?

Is that a Honda HT3813 mower I see lurking in the background?

Ceiling finished out just under 12'. In hind site 14-16' would have been better.

Yep on the honda. Too bad the starter wont crank and it has no deck. You wanna buy it for parts? It ran like a top before the starter went out.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for but I just got it and had to show it off. It is a Titan. Bike on it is a customer's ZX1100.

Here is a single post lift used in our tandem garage. I'll pulled the engine out of our vintage Porsche cars using this lift. It's convenient storage and allows for maintenance. Works well in this configuration. I have additional photos of the switching and lift mechanics if you'd like to see.

Very nice! Where did you find the porsche dealer sign?

Thanks guys. It's been fun collecting stuff and meeting good folks along the way.

Nuts: We live in a Spanish style house, so I built the garage to reflect early California/Spanish architecture.

Speedracer: The Porsche dealer sign came from a well known, now closed Porsche dealership in Southern California. It lights up.

AndrewBigA: Thanks

Regarding the single post lift: It was made in Texas by a small company that makes specialty lifts. I had their standard length shortened by 16" and painted a custom color. (Wanted it to be close to the same color as the floor)
The only thing I would have done is to recess the base of the lift flush into the concrete floor. We need to drive over the base plate, about 3" high, in order to park directly under the lift. It's really not a problem, just would have been cleaner to flush it out.

Can I ask what you paid for this single post lift? How much of a hit was it to make it to your spec?

Well I lucked into a $200.00 unit last year. I need to remodel my garage, to use it, to it's fullest extent (ceiling hieght). But the more I think about it, I also may want to cut the floor open, and recess the lift, in the floor???

As for the lift itself, when it was offered to us, we were not sure what it was. I was afraid it was an old front end alignment rack, and would only give three feet of lift. We were happy to find, that it is a full size unit.

At times, both rails, do not stay at the same level, while lifting, or lowering, I need to find out, what would cause that.

enough typing, here are a few pics, of when we brought it home.

This Eagle has been a great lift with no binding or erratic operation. However, my Lamborghini Murcielago will not fit between the posts. It is simply too wide for the post spacing !!

I will gladly take the Murcielago from you so that you don't have to feel like you wasted the money a lift that is to narrow.

All kidding aside, I bought the Murcielago after I installed the four-post Eagle lift. The purpose of my post was to suggest buying the widest lift possible - allowing for obvious space limitations - that you can. I haven't tried putting one of my 4x4 pickups on it, but it might be a tight fit.

Turbo, I have a lift that is similar to yours. In reading the installation manual it tells me there is a valve at the hydraulic pump that is only open to synchronize the lifts. My lift is plumbed so that the fluid leaves the pump to the bottom of the first cylinder. Then from the top of the first cylinder to the bottom of the second cylinder. Then the top of the second cylinder returned to the pump reservoir. This causes the lift to work in unison. The valve is only used to adjust the lifts to run together. Did your units come with all the hoses and fittings?
