Nice new lift. It doesn't look like you can go up too much with your door maybe 12" or so from what I can see in the picture. But how much usable vertical space will you gain in doing this since you have the limiting factor with the vaulted area that you created.
Also, just curious are you getting your door parts online? I had a tough time finding the garage door parts online that I needed.
Nice lift & toys, keep us updated with the progess.
I had a engineer (Rick) tell me what and where to cut and brace my trusses.
I sent him pics and he sent me drawings.

Cool, thanks!
So, the link says free, so it was free?
And, was his instruction good enough for your local bldg dept for you to get a permit?
I am 6' tall and if I spread my feet a little I can stand up.I love this idea and could see myself doing it if we never move. I'm almost 6' tall. How much room do you have under the car at full lift? What was the cost in redoing the ceiling? Thanks.
Matt
Hi Chris can you tell me how high your ceilling is not the vaulted ceiling the ceiling under the hood of your car.
Thanks Howard
Hey Chris I'll be reading as much as I can on the topic, thanks for the info. I have a 10-0 ceiling, and would like to stack 2 fairly short sports cars. Everytime I get excited about the possibility of getting a lift, reality sets in that it can't fit 2 cars.. without some changes.. so I'll be studyin up on it. Let's see more on the door and tracks. Mine are hung in the usual spot, a couple feet or more down from the ceiling. So getting the door up higher would be required.
Awesome. Jealous, next house I get will have a garage large and tall enough so it can have a lift so I can work on my lifted show truck and my show car. The truck will require a very tall ceiling for sure. The floor in your avatar is so neat looking, love the creative use of those tiles.
First off I had high rise track install for my garage door, it makes your garage door stay closer to the ceiling. Then I added a Liftmaster jack shaft opener.
I think that you can see them in some of the pics in this thread, if you need better pics let me know.
Cool, thanks!
