Here is one suggested by regguy1 in another thread:

"That trans jack is also too high for MaxJax, 34" min height only leaves 12-13" to drop trans...not enough. You'll need a floor model trans jack for the MJ lift."

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200305489_200305489

Another thing about the floor model trans jacks. I used one for years under full height lifts, I had a stand for it...angle iron with casters and it even had a shelf below the jack. I think a lower height stand for a floor model jack could be fabricated at appropriate height for MaxJax lift, maybe about 24' high then you wouldn't have to lower and raise the car to remove the trans.

Can you visualize what I'm talking about ?......Just found an old photo that shows some of it, The legs flare out at the bottom for stability and it has X braces so it's sturdy.
get the idea?

A stand made to the proper height for the floor model would work great for the MJ and you could still remove the jack to use on the ground if needed

the photo is from about 1988 :( here:

Hmm, that table looks interesting. I need to drop a fuel tank and that looks like it may be the ticket. Another question along this same line is anyone found safety stands (like in Regguy's pics) that are short enough to use with MaxJax? How about an oil drain that's tall enough, yet short enough (seems they're all too short, or too tall)?

These stands look perfect for MaxJax:

They sent me this oil drain with the MaxJax, you just use one of the 2 section of tubing and it fits under MJ just fine. Dannmar sells it , here's Costco link :

Thanks for the links! I had seen that drain pan before, but they list it as 48" minimum height. I'll have to pick one up. Those tripod stands look perfect too!

Again for the drain pan, I always planned to buy the small HF one, and cut the tubes down to fit, since it is only a slip fit. Just need to set-up my Max-Jax first.

Regguy1 -

Did you ever get those stands from Greg Smith? Just wondering how they worked out.

Thanks!

Yes I did, they're pretty nice..typical china item, I like the threaded end, you can lift things up or adjust to ideal height. T handle has a bearing under it so it rotates easily. There's be here's a couple photos. only complaint is the T handle is a bit long and if you put it under the A frame it hits the tire, you need to remove the tire or move stand back a bit.

you can bend those handles down a little bit to avoid clearance problems. I discovered this by lowering the lift on one of those stands accidentally one day at work and realized how nicely they were bent, so i went ahead and did the other side the by 'accidentally' lowering the lift on the arm... just to make the other side look the same too. it worked like charm...

I bought the Harbor freight 1000 lb lift table. I then drilled holes along the long sides and then attached 2x4s along the top sides. They are secured with screws up from under the table. Once those two pieces of wood are attached you can add or make any type of cradle quickly.

I used this to pull the ****** on our 99 Mustang Cobra to swap clutches. Worked like a charm and its about the right height. I also intend to use it to make a cradle for the Corvette rear assembly when its time to do a clutch on it.

I recommend it. The only draw back is its a little wider than a typical ****** jack.

Thanks for the info! I was looking at the stands more as stabilization etc for when working underneath. Looks like they may be the ticket. Was shipping ridiculous?

X2 - too tall. The best idea IMHO is the regular trans jack on a custom made stand. That's what I'd do. Bonus is that you'll have the trans up higher so it's easier on your back to heft it on to a bench.

I have one and it works well with my 12 ton jack stands lifting the vehicle 26 inches up but that's about where the range limit ends:

That would probably work great for the their standard lifts but the specs show the minimum height of the jack is 48". The problem is 48" is the maximum height of the MaxJax.

My bad should have read the page alittle bit longer instead of trying to help out CW_Racefan. When I went to help CW_Racefan out I was like let find something that is compatible so my first thought was that Dannmar would definitely do it. I saw 48" and thought it would work perfectly. But now I find it odd that Dannmar doesn't sell a compatible transmission jack also.

actually I would go with this unit from danmar

http://www.dannmar.com/dannmar-products/manspace-line/2-stage-trans-jack.asp

Min height is 34" and max height is 71", it is a 2 stage jack, so can lift 1000 #'s on the first stage and 500 on the second stage. and by the min height would work perfect with the MaxJack.

That is 34" from the ground up to the top of the jack cradle. Now put a transmission on top of it, it will be higher than 34". will you still have enough clearance to roll it out from under the car?

Bringing this back from the dead.

I stopped by Northern Tool today to look for a floor jack transmission attachment and found this little guy.
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200308305_200308305

The online price is $139 and the guy in the store gave me a $20 off $100+ coupon too. Total was $128 out the door.

I cut the post down, drilled three new holes, and its perfect.

If anyone is in the market for a transmission jack for their maxjax, this is a pretty good deal. :D

Very nice! Can you explain the mods you made a bit more. Hard to tell what you did. Thanks!

Here's the online menu manual to show how it all fits together:
http://www.northerntool.com/images/downloads/manuals/144846.pdf

The bottle jack bolts to the post (#9 in the manual).
I cut all but 2.5" off the post and drilled three new holes through it to remount the legs.

I ended up needing to elongate the holes on the post (used for #10 and #11 in the manual).
The nuts were too close to the legs on one side. (No pun intended).
You may be able to avoid this if you are more careful centering up the new holes on the post.

Makes total sense now. So once you chopped that down, what is the lifting range now? It is hard to tell from your picture but even chopped down it looks like it barely clears the underside of the car with the ****** on the ****** lift. I see you used the 3" lift adapters are well. Would it clear without those?

Thanks!

Skamp - any more pics of your setup?

That seems way easier then the HF table setup.

Only problem is dealing with the rear cradle on my c6.
