I have to grind concrete floors on 3 rooms on my basement. I applied oil paint 11 years ago, and I want remove completely this paint and later apply Epoxy 100% solid !

I just bought a diamond disk 7 inch (24 segments Dewalt DW4773).

I just tried with my Makita 9227C variable polisher/sander 0-3000 RPM...
- 1000 RPM (1 ft square = 30 seconds) give a good result and easy to control, but is long in getting the desired result
- 3000 RPM (1 ft square = 15 seconds) also give a good JOB but difficult to operate an can create few imperfection of leveling.

Few persons say that 1000 RPM is a best and other persons say that 3000 RPM is better !

What is a better speed for diamond disk 7 inch 24 segments ?

Grinding is not the route to take. You want to shot blast the floor , this will scabble the surface and leave it ready for epoxy coating .
You can rent a shot blast machine from a good flooring supply , just plug it in go .

I bought the Dewalt concrete diamond 4775 dual row cup wheel (similar to the 4773) but used the DeWalt recommended DWE4597 8500 RPM 4.9 HP MAX Angle Grinder. It worked excellent but you will need a method of dust collection. I think you need more than 3000rpm with the wheel you have.

You'll need to get a feel for the right speed by trial and error. The hardness of the concrete will determine the speed best suited. Other things like how much pressure you apply, are the segments getting gummed up and glazing over?

If you keep the disk flat, it should be fine. You can pretty much go as fast as you want, and if you stay flat, it wont gouge the floor.
