Howdy guys. Today is my first foray into a 4l60e r and r and I would like to know how to remove those darn torsion bars.

Ok I looked on YouTube and there wasn't a model similar to this 4x4. But by removing the keys to you mean by using a c clamp?

Disconnect the shock and upper ball joint and you can droop the lower a arm more than enough to release all preload on the spring without the clamp tool.

Upper ball joints on those IFS GMs are low service life anyway. Might as well just replace them.

I was thinking about dropping the shock and ball joint but if the parts store does not have the tool that's what I will do.

If its the same as a 1500 chevy pick up truck the transmission will come out of those with the torsion bars and torsion bar mount left in.

Ok. Thanks again. Yea I pulling the trans and the only thing that held me up was the t case and the torsion bars. Will knock this out in the am
