I asked almost the same question a while back.

The replies I got were to either use impact sockets or buy a vintage made in USA set off Ebay.

I ended up with a set of vintage Fleet USA chrome sockets 7/16 thru 1 1/4 for around $30 shipped. Cant complain at that price.

Also ended up with a set of gearwrench shallow and deep all the way up to 1 1/2 including ratchet breaker bar and extensions think I paid $85 shipped.

So my advice is shop the used market.

1/2 drive SAE is a tool most people don't have alot of use for anymore so deals to be had if you are patient.

I bought a Carlyle set, the quality is unbelievable for the price.
The larger ones do not fit Hansen trays or clones, as the through-hole in the socket is smaller than the plastic peg.

Have not mentioned what level of tool you are looking for...

For many people the standard craftsman will be just fine
For me I have stepped up t snap on many years ago

I need 8-10 specific 1/2” sockets (various deep and shallow) to do just about everything. Only 3 of those are impacts. Basically I catalogued every fastener on my vehicles and bought the specific sockets I needed.

That’s it. I don’t do anything else requiring 1/2” drive. No muss, no fuss, and inexpensive (for USA made) sockets.
