I was going through some stuff I inherited, and cleaned out an old toolbox. I found it to be a 1/2" drive set of Armstrong tools with both hex and square drive sockets. I cleaned it up a bit and found the remnants of the original packing slip in the box. Turns out the set is complete, less the ratchet. I am thinking it would be cool to find an Armstrong S-91 ratchet to complete this set. I believe the set to be from the early 1960's. The labels and packing slip all list it as made in Chicago Illinois, but apparently it pre-dates the zip code.

BBD, Great Set! Since I don't collect Armstrong, I'd like to donate your missing ratchet. Shoot me an email with your address and I'll get it on it's way home.

Wow! This forum is great. Twertsy fixed me up with a ratchet that is correct for the set. It is in just about the same condition as the rest of the set, and looks like it has been there since day one! I am thinking this set is probably from the late 50's or early 60's. Anybody know for sure?
THANKS!

Twertsy is the man for helping you out. If you can find out when zip codes came into being, you can get a close birth date for your set.

You're most welcome. Fact is, I got that ratchet in Winchester, VA so there is a possibility, albeit slight, that it could actually be the correct one! It has come home.

Merry Christmas!
