1/2" drive to loosen 46mm nut

Brother has a Ducati wheel he needs to remove and it requires a 46mm socket to separate it from the frame.

I have the Snap on 24" SLF80A. Will this do the job without breaking this wrench or is this borderline and should just stick with shorter 18" breaker bar.

My brother bought the 46mm with the 1/2'" drive, instead of the 3/4" I suggested.

What's the torque setting on the nut. I can't imagine it being more then 250 even though its a large spindle, I'm sure its just the design that dictated the dimension and not some crazy lateral tension requirement.

The answer is entirely dependant on how much torque the fastener is tightend to not the
size of the fastener itself. If you want to be safe just loosen it with the breaker bar first.

Depends on the torque of the nut! If its a high torque item to remove I'd use the 3/4" breaker bar with a cheater on it. I'm sure that the 46mm is a 3/4" drive so you might as well just try it first instead of risking breaking the 1/2"

If that's right ziP that's nothing to be concerned about with your 1/2 bar. But it is important to re-install to the proper setting. Do you have a torque wrench that'll do that?.

Ducati 1098 has 230nm (170 lb/ft?) in the rear axle so 1/2 dr is just fine.

I'm late to the party, but SO claims their 1/2" ratchets are good for 700 ft-lbs, so your ratchet is probably fine.
