I've got it in my head that I need a cordless impact.

Been a corded milwaukee guy most of my life but years ago when I needed cordless (2000) I puchased Dewalt because I didn't like the milwaukee offerings at the time.
I have a bunch of the 18V Dewalt stuff and picked up the 18V to 20V adapter/batteries to update with the times.

My buddy just purchased one of the 1/2" Milwaukee fuel impacts and while I was at Lowes I took a moment to look over the 20V Dewalt offering.

I would really like to hear from the members that use these tools on the good and bad. I would not have a problem going with a fuel impact if it is the better unit.

Thanks for the space.

If you're talking about the big, heavy high-torque models, you're looking at DCF899 vs the Fuel 2763. They're extremely similar in performance and price, either one will bust almost any fastener loose. Both brushless, both 18v lithium, both rated for 700 ft lbs of torque (or 1100ish ft lbs "nut busting" torque).

You won't go wrong with either of them. If you already have Dewalt batteries, I'd say go with the DCF899.

I have fondled the DCF899... it's real nice...

I have yet to see the 2763 in real life. I have become a bit of a Milwaukee addict lately.

I agree... if they are similar in function... its a color choice. You like yellow or red?

Our shop has had Milwaukee since the late 1950s. Milwaukee has always given us trouble free service. 60 years later our first Milwaukee power tools still run. All of my cordless in M12 volt and M18 are Milwaukee. I can see and count 25 from where I sit and there may be a few out in the shop.
Milwaukee and Dewalt are owned and built by the same company and have been for nearly a decade. Both brands are made in China. So, what is your favorite color?
I was told, designed in the USA, made in China and some of the models are final assembled in the USA.

What? DeWalt is owned by Stanley/Black & Decker and Milwaukee is owned by TTI.

"Coming from a former employee of Emerson Electric(Ridgid and Ridge Tool co.) and
currently an employee of T.T.I.(TechTronic Industries) I can tell you all benchtop,
stationary, and hand held tools(drills,sanders,saws,etc...)are manufactred by T.T.I.
with the exception of four tools which are made in Germany by Metabo for us.

T.T.I. also does some private label for Sears Craftsman and a small amount of
Mastercraft for Canadian Tire(Canada only) to their spec requests.

It was never said these tools are the "same". The suggestion was made that these tool were made by the same company, in this case TTI. There is a re-searchable history of where these companies manufacturing went when they were sold to TTI and these jobs left the country.

May as well wait a bit and get the latest High Torque from Milwaukee if your looking for max power and don't mind the size/weight. I have the DCF899 and love it

There's no bad about either one. I had DeWalt 20V tools already so it was a no-brainer for me.

If i had yellow first, I would stay with yellow rather than mix. I have M12 and M18 and the battery chargers for them. I did buy a Yellow (snake) inspection camera off Craigslist. This inspection camera is not a winner for me and what I do. My son likes it for looking inside walls. We found a lost metric screw under a cabinet with it, so I guess we can keep it , for a while. I am watching for a red inspection camera then I will give the Yellow camera away.
I have used both yellow and red and both are good. My employer had yellow in the shop.

Yup its more just a color choice between red, blue, and yellow high torque impact wrenches than performance specs but having a source of current battery compatibility tips the scale some and the Dewalt does have 3 fastening modes vs two on 2763.

I do have the Milwaukee 2763. And that basically was the first of the general contractor tool brands unless you went with a mechanic's truck brand like IR

Dewalt came later to the table and Makita finally came last, very last with an offering :lol_hitti

Though each of them had some time to refine their designs with some added improvements.

Thing is Milwaukee is ready to release a GEN 2 version of high impact so I guess they are a step ahead lately :dunno:

Milwaukee is TTi

Dewalt is SBD

Different companies, different factories, different tools.
