Grab both. Use them, see which you like more. Then trade the other, on here.

I would not hesitate on the Earthquake. I have the 1/2 in impact and it gets bolts out that IR 231 can not. Be sure to use 3/8 fittings to feed it with good air flow.

The older Mac is most likely an IR, so parts and kits are easily available. For me, this would tip things in that direction.

Earthquake is good. So is the Craftsman 1/2 inch with the black chrome gearbox.

Here's another vote for both and sell one.

Short of that.... Without knowing any details on the Mac, my vote goes solidly in the direction of the earthquake,

It's worth pointing out... IR makes good stuff, but there's nothing magical about it.

I had an older IR 1/2 gun for 2-3 years, and it worked great. But when it crapped out I replaced it with an Eathquake, and never looked back.

Here too. :shocking: I quit gracing their door stoops when I see this ****. I haven't been in a pawn shop in probably 10 years other than the one that does $20 gun transfers for me.

Buy both, if the Mac is an AW5500, I'll buy it off you for double what you paid.

Get both!! That's a great deal especially if the earthquak is new.

Same here, I used a Matco (IR) impact for 10 years, recently switched to the Earth Quake. Its much more comfy to hold, and has a way better muffler on it so it doesnt echo in my garage so bad.

I would buy both, and then sell both on ebay, and then take the proceeds and buy a brand new Earthquake with a 25% coupon, and probably have it nearly free.

The Earthquake will be a little stronger, if it's working properly than the Mac,as I'm pretty sure you're talking about an AW234, AW232or AW434, for that price. Those are all Ingersoll wrenches. Both are good wrenches, parts for the Mac are easy to get, but for 25 bucks I wouldn't spend much of anything to make repairs. They can be had pretty cheap in working order all over the place.

Savvy ducks everywhere prefer the Earthquack.

Do you realize that I turned off my tablet, walked out of the room, poured a cup of coffee, and it wasn't until I was on my way into the restroom to drop a deuce that the gravity of this cartoon finally hit me...??....!!

Holy **** mackerel.........."EARTHQUACK"......op's posting.......earthquack..........daffy duck......... holding an impact.......took me a minute, but yeah, yeah...I got it.......

Capital WTF.......GOOD STUFF!!

Which Matco tool? Must not have been a composite.

Good choice, as that Mac is not a re branded IR.

I would have to ask why all the parts on the AW235 are Ingersoll Rand parts, then. Mostly 231 stuff. I have a parts breakdown showing this, unless it's incorrect.

You'd have to ask Mac. Perhaps they didn't want to carry the additional spare parts and figured all of the IR spares that they already carried for the AW434 and AW234 would fit in the AW235. That's a risky path to take because they don't know that whoever is making the 235 in Taiwan has the same tolerances on the parts as IR does so you can end up with parts that don't fit.
