I have one of those Milwaukee shockwave bit sets that includes a bunch of Phillips, Torx, robertson, etc. bits also has four nut driver bits that have 1/4" hex shanks: 7/16, 3/8, 5/16, 1/4". I would like to get one of these nut driver bits in 1/2" as I seem to encounter 1/2" bolts a lot.

Milwaukee sells such a thing but it is only in a separate package that includes 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 too (I don't need these as they are duplicates).

Anyone know of a source to get this kind of bit individually? I looked at a bunch of sets from other manufacturers and it seems commonly the kits only go up to 7/16" nut driver size. Any reason why is 1/2" not commonly available?

P.S. This is what I'm talking about I want the 1/2" but don't want to buy a $20-$30 set with 4 nut drivers I already have.

I already have a 3/8" socket adapter I can go that route but one thing though is that the nut driver bits I linked to are much much shorter overall than using socket adapter plus a socket.

actually I recently picked up a 3/8 impact wrench wonder if putting a 1/2" socket on that is shorter than doing it the hex bit way. Hmm will have to check.

Here is another way you could go...

Tekton #2902 Power Driver Extension Set --- $ 5.84...(Sorry no 1/2"...But there's everything else you could need...)

Tekton #2938 Quick Change Nut Driver Set --- $ 5.99...(Slip the adapter in your Impact Driver...and slap a 1/2" socket on it...)

From www.amazon.com ....

i would have thought the 3/8 impact wrench body would be longer than the driver style, only because it has to fit the anvils in as well, but worth a look, and if space is an issue to the point that your saying then surely you wouldnt be able to back the bolt out?

otherwise its powered ratchet time :)

I notice these don't have the power groove. Is this the style you want for as much clearance as possible?

I've looked at a few of the Milwaukee bit sets and I thought all of the nut drivers they came with had the longer hex shank with the power groove.

I didn't read every response but IMO nut drivers are expendable, after so much use the 1/4" shank will break or the socket will wallow out so I would have no issue buying the bigger set in order to have spares.

I must have a 100 spread out in my different kits.

I don't know what brand they are but they are high quality and sold at a "heavy hardware store" locally. They have a magnet inside and are about six bucks each. :)
