Looking for recommendation on a good 1/2" pneumatic set that I can use with normal ratchets as well, looking for a complete set, size wise that would be well suited to a backyard mechanic/home use.

Sunex gets good reviews but I have Tekton in metric standard and deep that have worked very well. There's a bit of deformation on the drive end so I'm reasonably confident that they aren't going to explode on me. I do have a Sunex swivel that is fantastic.

Sunex all the way I did my research and bought a master deep set with sae and 2 flip sockets for $50 great set grey pneumatic is also good but cost more and is equal quality.
HF also gets good reviews I have a couple and they are not as nice.

I have both sunex and HF. Unless you are a pro the HF is more than enough for the job.

If wanting use on ratchet as well only one real good choice and that grey pneumatic duo sockets.
Sunex nothing that special and better design taiwan cro-mo impacts can be had brand or unbrand and cheap. HF PittsPro are nice made and design impacts besides skip sizes and no stamping on sockets. If it taiwan and cr-mo you can't go far wrong if sizes you like and socket design you like .

Sunex all the way. Absolute best bang for the buck impacts outthere. I purchased two sets of deep impacts SAE and MM back in 1992, I have yet to break one. I "upgraded" to SnapOn metric a few years later in 1995 or so. I eventually swapped all the common use sockets (15,18,19,21,22) back to Sunex because SnapOn dealers were starting to give me a hard time about warranting worn out sockets. I can't tell you how many lug nuts the 19 and 22 have removed and installed over the years but it is a lot, never warn one out. SnapOn would last a year at the most before it would get so loose that it would start to stick and be a PITA. Hind sight the only SO or other high priced impacts I would purchase would be swivels because you will break them no matter the brand and warranty is easier with a truck.
