1/2" slotted screwdrivers.

Why is it so hard to get a 1/2" slotted screwdriver that isn't a foot long? Klein has one but the shaft is 12". It seems like I'm constantly running into plugs, caps or bolts that want a 1/2" or larger slotted driver. I know drag link sockets exist, but so many of those are 1/2DR, which is way overkill for my needs.

Look at snap on marine plug screwdrivers..... I just learned about them myself....what I really want is one like that full handle sized craftsman with a 1" long blade...albeit the cman is 5/16"....I hate hard handles. Maybe I'll do an instinct handle swap

I went out and looked in my "Screwdriver" drawer...

Proto Yellow Handle Classic...Model #9812C...

1/2" blade width...square shank...and

12" long...

I was tearing apart an electric motor from a coolant pump the other day and had a hell of a time with this. Needed to hold the bolt at the back of the motor which took a slotted screwdriver and then spin the impeller off the shaft. For the life of me I could not get the thing to break lose.

Finally had a coworker come over and hold onto the screwdriver with a set of vice grips and was able to break it lose. But man what a PIA. A stubby 1/2 inch would have worked so much better.

I have a stubby 5/16", and its super handy, but its still a bit small for a 3/8" stove bolt.

I do have a 5" long 3/8" slotted from Wilde that I love.

That's the one I love but hate the damn hard handle! It's stupid that just because the business end is larger they make the tool longer...
