Just wondering what everyone swears by as far as their go-to impacts. Have recently had a few in my hands. I'm currently using the time-tested IR231c. Looking to upgrade power wise. The proto j150wp is looking like a great candidate due to ergonomics. Any input is appreciated!

I use the IR 2135 TiMax currently. I like it...small, light, powerful. It is a joy doing suspension work with it. I also like the fact that it has a grease port on the case. hth

The Proto will not disappoint.

I am currently using a Nitrocat 1200K and I like it a lot, but I would love to have the full family of the Proto impacts. I'm probably going to pick up the 3/4 Proto in the next couple of months.

Latest and most powerful on the market is the IR 2235TiMAX. If you don't need that much torque, or it is out of your budget check out the 2135QXPA, it is the same as the 2135QTiMAX except that the front end is an aluminum alloy rather than Titanium making it more affordable.

I use the napa torque dominator at work and it works great. Plus the size is fairly compact. Have a mac impact at home ( the one proto sells). I wore the mac out in 2 years, bought the napa and it rocks. If you catch it on sale then you will be very happy.

These are excellent ( this is also the Cornwell CAT4150) . One of my first choices... weighs what a 2135timax does, is shorter and has loads of torque. Takes a beating as well.

I used IR 231s for 20+ yrs, I started having tennis elbow problems so I bought a king tony mini 1/2 impact. Great tool that's very light & gets into a lot of tight spaces. Tennis elbow problem disappeared too, I keep a 231 for the tough stuff. I don't have a 3/8 impact anymore & I don't miss it.

I'm using the ir 2135 timax. I prefer the feel over the snap on impacts. I would really like to try the proto ones but no one in the shop buys proto tools so I have not had the opportunity.

i've been using an IR 231 for many years.

I had that same gun for years. U can throw it off the Empire State Building and it keeps going.
I recently got a great deal on a snap on mg725 so I sold the old IR.
LOVE THE SNAP ON. It's lighter...more powerful and the grip doesn't get cold!

After reading numerous threads here I bought the IR 2135 tiMax and couldn't be happier. I am an infrequent user--NOT a mechanic--and use it mostly for working on old farm equipment. With enough air it will do everything I need. Occasionally with a little help from the blue wrench, but it is VERY handy and quick and easy to use. :)

Primarly use a 3/8 buttery fly all the time (Matco) one and have a Blue-Point 1/2 (it is about 20 years old) or so. (kinda like the MAC 3/8 butter fly as well)

Need to get a beefier 1/2 impact what model Snap-On you got?

What about the MAC SKU: AWP050 model? I like the MAC Super Duty SKU: AWP434A as well.

Work at Yamaha/Kawasaki shop.

I'm surprised no ones mentioned it yet,I have a 3/8 IR ti2115. My go to 1/2 impact is actually the HF earthquake. It's heavy but I haven't hit anything it won't take off yet.

The Aircat 1150 is on sale for about $160. Seems hard to beat for that price. I'm about to pull the trigger on one, any reason not to?

Yeah, only because it's new, otherwise I can't think of one. One of my favorites for sure. I buy all mine used, I'm patient and I'm cheap, and can wait for a deal.
