I found this nice little brass screwdriver at a second shop, while I was cleaning it up I realized there was a second driver hidden inside the handle.
As I was setting it up to take the first 2 pics I found a 3rd inside the second drivers handle, too cool.

I collect those types of tools. The old original US manufactured that is. They had several varieties with milled and cast hammer heads designs as well as just screwdrivers. I guess I will have to dig them out and get some pictures.

I always pick up the screwdrivers and hammers when I see them at sales. I found this one recently. IMG_8398.jpeg

Takes me back to i believe the late 1940's when i received a set of I think 4 nesting Brass handled screwdrivers as a Christmas gift .
From that time on, nothing in the house was safe, my curious hands and mind began to "open and inspect" everything.

Indeed, they did - and based on your fondness for the type you'll likely enjoy the existing thread on this subject that Don linked in post #3. It has two pages of examples, research, and discussion.

Here are 3 of the 4 designs I have. The claw hammer and screwdriver only tool are marked GEM. The milled hammer tool on the left is only marked " MADE IN USA and HAMMER & SCREWDRIVER". I also have in some obscure tool bag is a milled hammer that has a ball pean.

Reading through this a realization started to grow that I had had one of these. Took some looking but in the miscellaneous screwdriver area was this - it is stamped by GAM in Lancaster, the cellophane bears the imprint UAW Health & Safety. Must have picked it up back in my plant days ..

We have 2 of these one at the lake and one at home. They are my wife’s preference to put more holes inthe wall for pictures. This one is missing the little screwdriver I’m going to have to have a chat with my Grandson. 😂 No markings on tool.
