Hi all, second post here. Awesome board, looking forward to taking advantage of the generous knowledge shared here.
I'm looking for a recommendation on air hoses. The project is a "quad-flator" type rig I cobbled up from a bunch of brass fittings. I'm into 4x4ing and it's a nice little contraption to inflate or deflate all four tires at once. Current setup is a pair of 25ft hoses off of the compressor with air chucks on the other ends, and brass t-fittings spliced in the middle of each with an additional air chuck. I'm using the bright green 3/8" hose from HF, all 1/4" fittings. My complaint is that it's annoying to wind these hoses into the bag I carry my compressor in, and just recently I noticed if the hose is really cold that they barb and hose clamp splice job I did tends to leak.
What I thought I'd like to do is to replace the 3/8" hose with some of the 1/4" accordion style, less work to roll up. I picked up a pair of 25ft Kobalt accordion hoses and some compression style fittings, thinking these compression fittings will work better than the barb/clamp style for splicing my extra air chuck into each hose. Quick mockup before actually cutting, and I think the accordion action might be too much tension on the chucks and valve stems. Since the accordion action in a 25 footer seems too much when replacing a straight 25ft hose, me thinks I don't want accordion hoses anymore.
Soooooo, TL;DR, I'm looking for recommendations on a 1/4" air hose that's easy on the wallet, holds up to desert heat and freezing temps, and is easy to roll up/manage. Recommendations on everyone's favorite style of fittings for cutting hoses to length would be helpful as well. Much appreciated!
