How much are you using this kit, and for what purpose? I could imagine just buying chrome and impacting on it if required if this is a rare "what if" type of kit.
You can use the sunex 3/8 for the vast majority of hand tool work without having issues with the bulk.
This kit is two fold. First, I'm looking at starting a Mobile RV tech business, and there's not a lot of sockets used in day-to-day tasks...which is a shame because I love sockets and ratchets lol. As much as I'd like to stock a full toolbox for this effort, it's just not needed. Also, most of the work will be done with a M12 impact driver since there are a lot of screws and the occasional hex head screws and nuts. Not a lot of torque. I'll probably have a Klein flip socket set for 90% of what's needed. the remaining 10% would be M12 3/8 impact. I plan on having more comprehensive socket sets in a less accessible place in the truck so I have them if needed, but think of this case like a work cart vs the main box. 1/4 is small and light and would fit in my tool bag that's on my person. Semi-deeps and a hex to 1/4 adapter would be the bees knees for this setup.
Second, I will be using this kit as a travel box for general repairs when seeing family. it'll get tossed in the back of an SUV and designed to handle 80-90% of things like riding mower maintenance, light vehicle work, etc.
So it's not designed to be comprehensive, but a high-impact, low footprint kit. Sockets will be one of the lesser-used things, so investing a lot of space on shallow and deep sets in chrome, & impact in both MM and Sae doesn't make sense. Most of the time they'll be used on impact tools, so if I got impact-rated sockets in Semi-deep size that would fit where chrome sockets do that would be ideal. I just don't want the chunk and weight of a normal impact socket.
