1/4" dr. impact wrench

For most of my working life,I've always thought of 1/4" dr. impact guns kind of poinless,but over the course of the past few months I've seen where one would be kind of handy. Does anybody have any recommendations? I've never had one or even used one, so any input would be great. Thanks!!

I use a Bosch PS40, but its no torque monster, mostly a spinner not a breaker looser.

i had a cheap ryobi for the past few years. it has replaced the cordless drill for me for everything except actual drilling. easily my most used power tool. i've been itching to buy a nicer one like a makita or milwaukee, but the ryobi just keeps working. it even breaks the lugnuts loose on my truck. not bad for a $40 tool.

ive been using my makita li-ion drill with a 1/4 drive bit in it for just that purpose
comes in handy =]

the air impact guns that are 1/4 dont seem to be much smaller than the 3/8 drives

I have always just used a cordless drill or corless screwgun

Impact is MUCH easier to use on reluctant fasteners, no kick back when it sticks. A lot less stripped heads too.

Picked up a cheap, old stock Dewalt 2 days ago in a combo pack with a drill. After 2 minutes I was wondering how I ever got along without it. It's outstanding for fasteners in lumber.

I have used those at work (assembly line work) and it was great. My hand was a little big for it so the directional switch rubbed the top of my thumb. It was a little bothersome under near constant use, but would be just fine for mechanic work or if you had smaller hands than me (I have decently big hands). For straight up comfort (for me) I liked the blue-points better, but the IR had more power and was holding up better. Remember that this was assembly line work, so almost constant use and they both were lasting very well.

Also FYI I have a thread talking about 1/4 drivers and impacts here. A lot of people like the Bosch. We also use those at work and they have been good so far. For some reason I am really compelled to go with the Makita set seen here though.

Two of my co workers have that Makita in your link. It's really nice and now on my want list.
