I'm on the hunt for a 1/4" ratchet, preferrably fine tooth. I don't see a fine tooth offering from williams, i do however see 72t amd the dual 80 from snapon (i have access to a truck now eek).

Are there any Mia flex ratchets im missing?

I think Harbor Freight has 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 flex head 72 tooth ratchets now with lifetime warranty. I have the 1/2 and it seems pretty good to me but I am not a pro mechanic.

Gads, you yunguns are sure spoiled. In my day you had a 1/4 ratchet that had 10 teeth and you were happy to have it !

Lol. I guess so. Ive got a couple of craftsman 1/4 ratchets, sometimes though, the coarse tooth count just doesnt work well enough in these tiny cramped engine bays nowdays

The SK flex head's head is too thick making access an issue depending on what you work on.

Without breaking the bank consider a Gearwrench 84 tooth or a Carlyle 90 tooth.

MAC has a 90 tooth Axis version but, its head isn't as thin as the Gearwrench.

The TF72 is as smooooth as butter, and can fit into some pretty snug places.

I have the now discontinued Armstrong locking flex in 1/4. It is an older 60t version. I like it quite a bit. Matco still makes rats of this design.

I have a bunch of different 1/4" ratchets. I generally use the rotohead most of the time over a flex. The Snap On rotohead is great. The Carlyle is imported but just as good for a much lower price. You might consider either of those as an option while you're looking.

My daily use 1/4 flex is a GW 84T that I got for $15 at Menards. I have a couple of them and one in the 120XP and there isn't much it will not do. Someday I may buy a Dual 80 if the price is right. GW has spotty warranty in Canada, hence the need for 2, so I can get it taken care of when I go to the US once a month.

If expecting use it hard the snapon makes sense .
cheaper decent options are carlyle, gearwrench 84T and pitts pro .

If you can wait a few months, SK will be coming out with their new line of low profile 90 tooth ratchets. I have the 3/8 straight model and it works great.

Snap On flex head quick release is my go to in 1/4". I love it and picked it up on eBay for $50 I think brand newish. Very hard to find a quality flex head ratchet with quick release. Quick release is a must in 1/4".

I have to admit the Carlyle stuff is pretty good - I reach for those green screwdrivers over my Instincts. I saw the ratchet in a 3-pack and was tempted; maybe on my next trip south of the border...

Why is it a "must"?
I don't own any quick release ratchets and never really liked them personally

Because changing 1/4" sockets with greasy/oily hands isn't easy.

ive had a few that fight me, but for the most part all of my sockets pop off pretty easily no matter what brand ratchet im using.

my SO 1/4" u joint adapter is a real pain to get ON to a socket. Maybe someday itll break in

I picked up a Gearwrench locking flex-head (81016) and it has become my go to ratchet. Thin profile and the locking feature comes in handy more than you would think. As others have said though not having a quick release can be a hassle at times....
