1/4 hex bit driver options

I'm looking to add a stubby 1/4 hex bit driver for use in those really strange circumstances when the standard length won't do.

I don't have any at the moment and am up for just about anything. The only requirements are that it has to have a magnet to hold the bits in and ideally be less that about $15.

Bit socket + extension. Chinese is fine, taiwan is great, usa is fantastic.

Not what you're asking for but my opinion. The actual answer is the teeny turner (is it 1/4" bits?) but hard to get torque on these micro deals, not a problem for slotted or philips in most cases but will cause problems for torx or hex. If that isn't 1/4" hex maybe the same company sells something with that bit size.

My Apex M-1505-P should be here on Wednesday. It's 2 3/8"/60 mm long and the blade projects 3/8"/10 mm. Typical pricing is $15.32 but I have seen it occasionally for a few $$ less.

I also have the Wiha that folks mentioned. It is nice because you can store bits in the handle. PB Swiss has nice stubby (PB 8452.10-15) as well and Santoprene is so nice!

Another option I have used is the Snap-on TM40ASA 1/4" square drive stubby with a TMBS8A insert bit adapter.

Looks like some of the Wera ESD handle products have retaining rings rather than magnets to retain the bit.

I can't figure out what Wiha you are talking about, the 28103 doesn't hold bits in the handle. I have it though and it's very nice, smaller than I expected. I would love to have the PB Swiss one you have, I have their winged one:

It's a hair over the $15 you were looking at, but it ratchets and is supposedly the same mechanism as the Snappy ratcheting drivers. COO is Taiwan.

I bought the Brownells #080-090-000WB several years ago, and it's one of the best I've ever had.

I think I have a finger ratchet, one in 1/4 sq drive and one in 1/4 hex bit. AmPro has a pair in aluminum for $10 on amazon. Google finger ratchet.

If I can get hand and finger in, generally I can use some kind of ratchet and bit holder, or my GearWrench microdrive.

I can't figure out what Wiha you are talking about, the 28103 doesn't hold bits in the handle.

My mistake. The Wiha 28103 is a SoftFinish stubby with no bit storage. Wiha also has ESD versions. A short time ago they released the 3804X/3805X series. These are SoftFinish stubbies with bit storage and bits are included.

Great little driver. All of my ratcheting drivers are now Bahco. Nobody comes close to the bang for the buck.

I have to agree with Danglerb. I was really hot on stubby 1/4" square drive (spinners) and stubby 1/4" insert bit drivers until I got the Snap-on TM936 and then TM72 bit ratchets. Lately I have been using a Williams 30012 which is really nice in tight places.

I guess it's like underwear... some folks like boxers and some like briefs.

I've had a couple of APEX drivers over the years, and they are incredible. The magnets are really strong. Though, I have not personally used their stubby.

This is the hex bit mag stubby I use. It's about as small as you can get and still have a decent grip on it.
