1/4 impact vs Drill

I'm really liking the reviews the m12 milwaukee 1/4 impact. I have a corded drill but I wonder if the 1/4 impact can ever be used as a drill. Although an i'm pact would be nice, I'd have more used of a cordless drill. do they have a drill chuck that works on the impact drive? or is it socket only?

I have seen keyless chucks that will fit into the 1/4 quick connect that makita makes but u really need a drill vs impact when dealing with any type of drilling thru metal

The answer is no You can't keep slaming a drill bit. Milwaukee along with Bosch make the best tools on the market. The are far better than anyting Snap-on has in thier line up. As a general contractor and architect I only use these 2 brands. I have tryed them all and these hold up better. Makita makes good tools but a step down in my opinion,.
Dewalt is over priced junk and I really dont like them The ware out fast and do not hold up and are way over priced.

Just but a combo kit with both. Their functions are different. There are some very good sales on them right now.

I ended up with one of the new 18 V portercable drills and impact last year. It was given to me. The impact has supper guts and the drill is nice. Nothing like my Bosch or M but they work well. You can get the 3 piece set for $120 on Amazon.com For home it will last you for years.

As said, you can, but you shouldn't. I've got a chuck adapter, and I haven't used it even one time, it's so unbalanced and long even on a compact impact. I'm sure the impact action wouldn't do many drill bits any favors either.

I've got a few of the hex shank drill bits I use to drill one or two holes quickly, or to drill out pop rivets quickly and easily. Beyond that, I bust out the drill. Oh, and the free battery deal right now on the M12 Fuel drill/driver is freaking awesome, too!

I got some impact rated drill bits from dewalt and they are made in germany. Havent used them a ton, but when i do they do quite well. For repetetive drilling probably not a great idea for metal, but its pretty nice when you have to punch out a quick hole. The extra torque an impact provides makes it just fly through wood.
