My truck shop manager give me this ratchet today he was cleaning out some of his dads tools and said that he thought i would like it ,he was right i love it and will always have a special place in my toolbox. His dad was a chrylser dealer mechanic for 40 years and one of those old school guys that could put a transmisson together and never take the pall mall out of his mouth.

Many are now 1/4's, made by dropping in a later kit or by simply giving 2 sides a few file strokes.

That's a nice gift! It appears to be in good condition.

Not to hijack this thread, but any idea if anyone has a kit for these Plombs?
I've got a WF-8 (9/32") that has a broken shaft and was poorly welded. I'd like to use it as a 1/4" ratchet, and a kit would put it back in service.

Thanks,

Maybe...found some that look right, have not purchased any to see if they really are.
I went to Amazon and typed in "Proto Repair" or maybe "proto repair kit" and found a bunch of kits in all sizes that LOOK like their Plomb ancestors. I think only buying one will tell for sure.

Interesting; I had no idea Amazon had such a selection.
I didn't see any that appeared to support the 1/4" ratchets, but I'll keep checking.

Thanks,

Here are Proto's listings; old style right below the round heads.

I thought I found the 1/4 ones on Amazon, because that was what I was thinking about...but now I don't see'em.
Follow the numbers of the specific ratchets into the catalog...apparently they have some female squate 1/4's (?), which kit would be about as useful as the broken one you have now.
